Arm & Wrist Surgery Update! 🩹

It's been 19 days since I had surgery to get my plates and screws installed, and overall, everything went really well!

Today was a big milestone: I got my stitches removed and finally traded in that bulky splint for a brace! I'll be rocking this brace for the next 6 weeks. My hand and fingers are still pretty swollen, so I'll be starting physiotherapy next week to help get movement back in my wrist and fingers.

Slowly but surely making progress! Thank you all again for checking in on me and for all the continued support. (And yes, Andy is still holding down the fort on chore duty! 😉)

Well, I have an update on the wrist situation, and unfortunately, it's not the news we were hoping for.

After several more X-rays and CT scans, it turns out things are a bit more complicated than they initially thought. I’m going to have to have surgery next week to put in some plates to make sure everything heals correctly.

It looks like Andy’s chore duty just got extended! 🚜

What a morning! Everything was going completely normally until a stray branch from last night's storm got the best of me. 🪵🌪️

We had a branch down across the driveway, so I decided to pull it to one side. It was going well until the branch suddenly snapped. I fell backwards hard and fast, and unfortunately, landed in a way that left my arm and wrist bent in a direction it definitely shouldn't have been.

The pain was immense, so I immediately called Andy to come get me, and we headed straight to the ER. Several X-rays later, the verdict was in: I broke my wrist in 3 different places.

After several hours, the doctor finally reset it, put it in a splint, and sent me home. What a day!

Needless to say, I'm going to be taking it a bit easy for a while. A huge thank you to my wonderful husband Andy for rushing to the rescue and taking such good care of me!

While the grills were firing up, we were out in the fields keeping busy making hay while the sun shines. It was a lot of hard work, but there is nothing better than getting that fresh, sweet hay baled and stacked.

🐷💕 We have a happy update on our new momma and her babies—everyone is doing absolutely fantastic! It turns out our final count is 9 healthy, strong, and incredibly wiggly little ones!

Momma pig is doing an amazing job taking care of her big new family, and watching them all bundle together is just the best feeling after a long week. Our hearts (and our barn) are completely full.

Life on the farm isn't always sunshine and cute animal pictures. I usually love sharing all the wonderful, happy moments here, but today I want to be real about the tough days, too.
Yesterday morning was a heartbreaking one. I had to bury two piglets that were stillborn, which is always a deeply sad and heavy part of raising livestock.

Right after that, I had to shift gears and head over to clean the apartment to get it ready for our next guest. To say I had my work cut out for me would be an understatement. There were sticky drink spills all over the wooden floor—it looked like using drink coasters was completely optional. On top of that, there was silverware and towels missing, and plastic drink cups were left outside with trash just waiting to blow away.

Dealing with all of this takes a lot of time out of my day. It also takes away from our profits—the very profits that go toward buying animal feed.

It was a long, draining day both physically and emotionally. But the farm keeps moving, and so do we. Thank you all for being part of our journey, through both the easy days and the hard ones. ❤️

These little ones are officially the very first pigs to ever be born on our farm, and we couldn't be more thrilled!

Both mom and her babies are doing fantastic, looking strong, and resting up.
