A longtime industry veteran once told us, "If you want to help put Virginia on the wine map, you have to do more than just sell out of your tasting room."
Those words have stayed with us.
It means getting Virginia wines into the hands of restaurants and wine shops that align with your brand. It means creating opportunities for people to discover these wines beyond our county, beyond our state, and proving that what we're making here deserves a place among the world's great wine regions.
That's exactly what Lost Creek Winery has been focused on.
Yesterday, the Virginia Wine Marketing Office hosted a Virginia Wine Trade Intensive at The Jefferson Hotel in Richmond, bringing together producers, buyers, and hospitality professionals from across the Commonwealth. Lost Creek wasn't just in attendance, we were part of the conversation.
Todd joined a panel discussing the many expressions of Cabernet Franc being crafted throughout Virginia, while Aimee's Uncork Loudoun initiative was represented on another panel highlighting innovative approaches to expanding market access for Loudoun wineries. Uncork Loudoun also poured a selection of Loudoun wines during the luncheon, giving attendees the opportunity to discover wines for potential placement in restaurants and retail programs.
This is the work happening behind the scenes to elevate Loudoun and Virginia wine.
And you can help.
Ask for Virginia wines at your favorite restaurants. Request them at your local wine shop. Seek out Loudoun producers when you're traveling. The wines coming out of this region are award-winning, distinctive, and worthy of a place at any table.
Experience them. Share them. Help us spread the word that Virginia wine has arrived.
