Tom Farms

Tom Farms Tom Farms is a multi-generation, family owned organization firmly planted in fertile prairies of North Indiana.

Tom Farms has evolved into a global crop production, sales and service company and industry leader. Today we are one of the leading suppliers to Monsanto’s seed production supply chain. Agriculture, by nature, is an unpredictable business. Ensuring the shipment of more than 30 million pounds of seed corn, 100 million pounds of corn, 13 million pounds of soybeans, and 27 million pounds of tomatoes

each year requires innovation along with careful planning and quick thinking. Providing our customers with exceptional service is just the way we do business at Tom Farms. We do it by utilizing superior technology, round-the-clock vigilance and flawless execution—to lower costs and increase efficiency, combat weather and disease, and nourish the land—all while maximizing the productive capability of every single acre.

DYK the seen corn we are picking today travels by truck 100 miles to be dried and processed?

Speaking of trucks, please be safe and watch for truckers & farmers throughout .

It’s 👩🏼‍🌾🧑🏼‍🌾

It’s fitting that our team finished late last night under the lights and a little rain. 🌽

Don’t just thank a farmer, thank his wife for cooking, delivering meals, going for parts, or moving fields all while taking care of her usual jobs.

Thank the team for working endless hours on sleepless nights to ensure the crop comes off.

Thank his children who are ok with seeing him if just for a brief moment while he eats his meals in the field.

Farming is a family business and it takes sacrifice from all. So don’t just thank a farmer, thank the family.

It’s officially harvest, which means we may not get to see some of our loved ones as much as we want, there will be lots of slow moving traffic on the road, and they won’t quit until the work is done. So, be thankful for the hard work these people put in so we can have food on our tables. I can’t stress this enough - SLOW DOWN when you see them on the road. Give them room, pass them as if it was your own family. It’s a beautiful time of year, let’s keep it that way and keep everyone safe. Don’t forget to say a big THANK YOU to those who work in acres instead of hours.

Here’s to our farmers, whether you drive truck, run equipment or behind the scenes making everything click. THANK YOU!

Bittersweet is one word to describe the emotions of the day. These calves were the last set of calves Grandpa Everett was around to see. He would have been so incredibly proud of how Melissa is carrying the torch caring for these calves. She has poured everything into them, getting them ready for your kiddos to show.

As grandpa is watching the sale with a front row seat in heaven likely with a bowl of homemade ice cream and popcorn, let’s put on a show today at the online auction!

Labor Day for most Americans means a little time to relax and rewind. Not the case for farmers and ranchers. Harvest around the US has started, including .

Labor Day is a day to celebrate the achievements of the millions of men and women who keep America running. 🇺🇸

This year, don’t forget to thank a farmer. 👩🏼‍🌾 👨🏼‍🌾

Approximately 2.6 million Americans work directly on a farm. Nearly 20 million more work in food and other agricultural-related industries.

Farming and ranching are certainly not your average 9 to 5 job. It’s sunup to sundown and sometimes all night long. Farming is a lifetime of commitment to caring for animals or producing a sustainable crop. It’s boots-on-the-ground work that requires equal measures of grit and grace and a little bit of good luck.

Despite the immense challenges that they have been presented with this year, America’s farmers and ranchers have continued to work every day in order to provide America with the most affordable, abundant and safest food supply in the world.

Tomorrow officially starts. Seed corn…we are coming for you! 🌽 PC .van.eeden

Welcome to our 2022 Calf Sale.

My Dad, Everett Tom, passed away in February of this year. Dad was a true cattleman in every sense of the word, a man with the utmost integrity who was generous with everything he had. We are working to continue this by giving kids opportunities to show these calves as feeders and then pass this calf on to you ready to show. 6 of our calves went to the county fair this year. We are already expecting that there will be more next year.

They were in the ring for showmanship, the mini 4-H show and the 4-H show. They spent the
week going back and forth to tie outs as well. We had Champion and Reserve Champion Feeder Calf at the Kosciusko County Fair, so these are competitive calves.

The kids have continued to help with these calves so they are ready for you to take home and show the next
weekend. The work has literally been done!

Last year Dan Nelson offered some calves in our sale and we are so fortunate to have Dan’s calves in our sale again this year.

Dan always brings an awesome set of calves. He spends a lot of time in his pasture and in the barn working with his calves, so they are all gentle, broke to tie and most to lead. These are high quality calves that will be very competitive. You can be
confident in what he has to offer here.

Since Dad passed away in Feb. of this year he didn’t make it through calving season but he did make it down to the barn one last time before he passed to see the January calves. He is greatly missed by all of us and that makes these calves extra special to us this year. We will be sad to see them go but looking forward to seeing what they can accomplish with your family.

And for those who have wondered, if we will be keeping the cows, the answer is yes with the goal of being able to say as my Dad did every year, “ this is the best set of calves we have ever raised!”

We appreciate your time, Thanks for looking at our calves this year!

-Melissa

The Hoosier Ag Today Podcast for Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2022:

1.) Russian President Vladimir Putin is no longer honoring an agreement made several months ago to allow grain shipments to safely leave Ukraine. Eric Pfeiffer reports how that may cause more volatility in the grain markets.

2.) You’ll also hear from Kip Tom – owner of Tom Farms in northern Indiana – as the former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Agencies for Food and Agriculture talks about increasing food production and efficiency to meet the needs of 10 billion people around the world by 2050.

3.) Chief Meteorologist Ryan Martin has your Harvest Weather Forecast.

4.) AND Arlan Suderman with StoneX reviews Tuesday’s grain markets and has a preview of Wednesday’s markets.

That’s all straight ahead – on your Wednesday Hoosier Ag Today Podcast!
By the year 2050, the world’s population is expected to be more 10 billion people. That’s why an ag industry leader from Indiana says he’s confident that solutions will be developed by ag businesses and the private sector to provide enough food for an expanding population.

“It’s the private sector that has got the ability to transfer knowledge. They've got the capital to do it and they understand the need,” says Kip Tom, owner of Tom Farms in northern Indiana. He’s also the former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Agencies for Food and Agriculture.
