The blueberries were plentiful and delicious this morning (7/12), and still so many to pick! Go early and commune with the birds and the butterflies and the bees!
Just wondering if you were doing blueberry picking this year?
Blueberries???
In a few days my next Old Town Crier article on several of Virginia’s winery-restaurants will be published, featuring Veritas Vineyards, Barboursville, and Upper Shirley. But if there was a 4th location I wish I had space to include, it would have been Eagletree Farm.
While most Virginia wineries serve bites of food, Eagletree feels like a restaurant that also serves its own estate wine. It’s incredibly adorable, with an atmosphere feels like a mix between French country and your personal dining room.
After I ordered owner/chef Jeff Judge came by to say hello and introduced a new word to me; ‘mirepoix’, which is a style that combines diced onions, carrots, celery and herbs. It’s also one of the defining qualities of his cooking (he is a French-trained chef, after all).PS - you have no idea how proud I am remembered to take this picture before devouring my filet mignon alongside a glass of their estate-grown tannat.

We were there early last Sunday, 3/21, before the crowds. Had a great tasting and lunch. The calzones were amazing, as was the bread pudding for dessert. Excellent wines and fabulous food. Lori and Jeff have created a classic place!
AMAZING dinner last night! Thank you for the great service!

Thank you so much for hosting a memorable evening for our families last night. All the way home, the kids were raving "Best July 4th ever!" And we couldn't have planned for better weather if we'd tried. 🥰
