This Ol’Gal was adamant about sitting on a clutch of eggs. For over a week, I’ve been pulling her out and getting the eggs. I threw in the towel yesterday and marked 5 with a pencil 👍🏽
We have a bunch in the grow out pen, 8 with a hen that went broody in a smaller roll around pen
We will see if she’s a good brood hen our not 👍🏽❤️🐣

We were gifted this playpen and now it’s a brooder for our spoiled babies. Yes, they are in the house 🤣😂 ❤️❤️❤️❤️

This is the last hatching we are doing for now. These guys are from our breeding pair so they are special to us. We have them in the house for now so we can spoil them ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Got the bottoms and dividers cut out of the “Banty Shanty”. Installed 1/2” vinyl coated hardware cloth in the bottoms.
Removing the dividers converted it into a 4 cubicle unit instead of an 8 unit housing
Took the tractor and turned it 90* so the sun doesn’t shine directly into one side. Installed concrete post blocks under the legs so I don’t have to duck under the metal roof.
Power washed it out.
Next I’ll reinstall the automatic watering system and the paint the faces of all the exterior lumber

Moved the 1st hatch of Bantams to a temporary outdoor pen while we complete the “Banty Shanty”

Picked up 8 Silver Deathlayer chickadees yesterday for the start of our last of six breeds of chickens that we will be raising (plus the 4 breeds of bantams)
It’s amazing how the chicks are camouflaged while young to help hide from predators, then will turn Silver and Black while maturing
