My great grandfather immigrated from Switzerland and along with being a farmer he was a beekeeper.

Today my granddaughter helped me winterize our bee hives.

So now Kellerlands Apiary is a 3 generation business.

The weather is looking beautiful for this Sunday's Yuletide Holiday Market! Start the holiday season off with a stroll at The Museum, shopping over 40 vendors, and supporting local artists and businesses! 🎁🎄

Even on a gloomy Sunday morning, our 9-acre back field was alive with activity!

We mow it just once a year to preserve it as a meadow and about four years ago, we sowed it with native Pennsylvania wildflower seeds. The result is a vibrant landscape where native flowers bloom in waves throughout the seasons. They support not only our 18 bee colonies but also a diverse array of wild bees, butterflies, and other insects. The meadow is also a haven for wildlife — white-tailed deer, rabbits, foxes, red-tailed hawks, American kestrels, the occasional wild turkey, and songbirds such as goldfinches, bluebirds, barn swallows, and scarlet tanagers all make regular appearances.

It may not be a massive tract of wilderness but it feels like a thriving piece of the wild right in our own backyard! 🐝
