Life lately photo dump! I have a love-hate relationship with social media. Yes, I love to keep up with friends, family, mentors and such but I really hate how fake things are. We don’t post a whole lot cause honestly we don’t have the time or energy for comment trolls/haters. As farmers you would be surprised by the hate messages we get or the message where people love to give you unsolicited advice/tell you what you are doing wrong.
This adventure to begin farming, now almost 6-years ago, has been the hardest thing we have ever done. I don’t regret one second of it because those hard times are what taught us so much. We were forced to learn lessons the hard way, grow from it, pivot, and start anew.
These pictures are just a glimpse of the busy Spring on the farm.
1-Our Red Wattle hogs enjoying the first grass clippings of the season.
2- A wild ring-necked pheasant! She showed up on the farm one day and wanted to be a chicken so we obliged, her name is Joan, named after the famous female peasant Joan of Arc.
3- Garden Greatness- It took me 5 years but I finally have the garden of my dreams. I am SOOOO proud of it! Plus, not a single drop of herbicide or pesticide or any of that cancerous crap was used!
4- Our first batch of freedom rangers enjoying life in the forest.
5- Radish Heart
6- 2023 first batch of meat chickens just before harvest.
7- THAT GRASS THO!
8&9 - Memorial Day supper 100% grown by US! Snap peas and carrots from the garden, St Louis Red Wattle Ribs, Deviled eggs, and homemade strawberry ice cream.
10- Sadly we lost our favorite barn cat, Rebel. I AM NOT a cat person but damnit I loved this cat. She was special and well deserving of her name Rebel, we will miss her for a long time to come.
