The Bees Need Us As Much As We Need Them
A few years ago when I found out that the Honey Bee was on the endangered species list I began looking into ways I could help. Of course, I started by studying beekeeping and eventually bought my first complete hive from a local supplier of honey bees. Since then I have managed to increase the honey bee population in my area, an area that I have not seen a honey bee in since the 1980’s. We as humans have needs that affect the natural habitat of the honey bee, and we also use chemicals that have a monumental affect on the overall health of the honey bee. Because of these things, as well as a few others not mentioned, we have a responsibility to protect the honey bee. Therefore I am putting this blog together to help as many people as I can to get involved in beekeeping on some level. You can do it for honey, for profit, or you can simply provide a home for a colony, at whatever level you decide I hope to help you be successful. I don’t know as much as most people, but I feel I know enough through trial and error to help you get started. We need the bees, and now, they need us.
