WOOL! We’re trying wool mulch in our garden this year. It’s rumored to have a lot of benefits to your garden including pest deterrent, moisture control, & adding nutrients to your soil as it breaks down. This is wool from 6 sheep… I think we need 4 more to cover, so I suppose I’ll keep some replacement ewe lambs lol. Excited to see how it works!

Picked up a couple beautiful ewe lambs for Bay this wonderfully rainy afternoon. What a great experience with the folks at Sparta Holler Ranch. You can see how much work & care they put into all the critters on their place. They were incredibly welcoming & answered every question (& then some) that I had. If you’re looking for some nice Nigerian Dwarf goats or colorful, well built Kathadin sheep, I highly recommend them!

But for now… the name game begins 😆

Mac was the chosen one for helping put a new bale in the other night. He’s very fair & patient with the curious lambs. I’m anxious to get finished with our fencing project so we can start working together more! We have a ways to go before The Good Life, but I’m really enjoying this dude.

It was a top 10 night to re-set the temporary fence & hang with Mac a bit. He even helped put sheep away tonight for the first time since he’s been home, & I’m giddy that he’s ours!

Whenever I get a dog in, no matter how old they are, how good their recall is, or how broke they are… they stay online for at least 30 days. It’s a good rule of thumb as they adjust to the place & the people (& the ridiculous overpopulation of bunnies). It always baffles me how many people just take a dog home & expect them to listen perfectly & think they won’t react differently in a new environment.

Our 2nd Dorper/Kathadin lamb hit the ground yesterday morning! She was up and aggressively nursing almost immediately. Pretty impressed with the 1st time mamas & their huge vigorous lambs. Looking forward to seeing how they grow out!
