This is the baby pen. I had to redo all my chickens because the eagles were dining on them. Now we have roofs on all the cages. Still have to finish the turkey pen but for now their all safe.

Moved the baby chicks outside today. The weather has been nice but I'll keep the heat on them for a while at night.

Poor Cotton. Some time during the night on Sunday Cotton and Payton jumped the fence to their pasture. Don't know why but they jumped in with the cows. Then Payton jumped into an empty field. Once I rounded them up and moved them back I found Cotton had tore open his abdomen. He had stopped bleeding so I put him in a pen alone and sprayed with antiseptic spray and called the vet Monday morning. It's hard to find vet services on the weekend. He has scratches on his one side of his abdomen and a golf ball size tear open on the other. Vet said he couldn't sew him up cause there was too much muscle. He shaved it and gave us antibiotics. Looks like he's healing good but he'll have a scar. And he doesn't like being separated. Oh well.

We're sectioning off a small pasture. It's a long term project. It's close to the house so we can use it for a hospital , baby , or any other thing we need. It runs a fence line with the girls so they won't be lonely. The girls decided to supervise this morning.

Everyone asks me if I really need such a large kitchen. Yes! This morning while canning chicken broth I had all 4 of my dogs( 2 german shepards and 2 Brazilian mastiffs) and one of the cats under foot. The cat climbed in an empty jar box and was playing with the dog!
