Well we did some harvesting this past week. Most of the potatoes have been dug. We took a video that the young men say could be used for a training video on how to pick up potatoes!! (They don't always go this fast)

We also harvested the broom corn and made bundles. We will have that when we reopen on Sept 15th.

If you are in a pickle and doing pickles and cant find any dill, give me a call or text and we can arrange for you to get some, even though we are closed. Or if you need potatoes or onions, same thing, just contact me. We have red Norland, white Dakota Pearl, Viking, Russets, and purple potatoes. We will have all of these when we reopen also.

Thanks for reading

Updates for the week of Aug. 11th.

Potatoes, potatoes, potatoes. We have added to our offering 3 more varieties of potatoes. Along with the red Norland, and with Dakota Pearl, we have purple potatoes, Russsets, and Purple vikings. The purple vikings have a purple skin, but white flesh. So good when they are fresh dug!

This is our last week of being open for the summer. We will close at 3 on Saturday the 15th, and reopen for the fall season on Sept. 15th. If you need fresh vegetables, this is the week to stop by and get some. We have beets, 5 different peppers, kalarabi, cucumbers, tomatoes by the piece, ( don't have enough to sell bulk) 3 kinds of onions, zucchini, egg plant, potatoes, and dill. Thanks for a good summer and hope to see you this week.
Also Friday and Saturday The Barn and Man Cave will be open until the fall also. Lots of antiques and collectables. Still have HUNDRES of cookie cutters. All shapes and styles.

The onions are all hung from the rafters with care.
In hopes that Saint Customer will soon be there.
The Candy onion is so delicious and sweet.
We hope you come and buy them for your treat.

That is bad, but got your attention!

The update for this Friday and Saturday, Aug 7th and 8th.

All the onions are in bags, hanging and drying. They are large and very sweet this year. You need to try one if you haven't yet.

We dug some potatoes today. The red Norland are mature and ready for storage. They are $.75 a pound in bulk. Just let us know and we can get some bagged for you. The white Dakota Pearl need a couple of weeks yet to finish maturing. Will have those available in the fall.

We have tomatoes, peppers, kohlrabi, and much more. Stop by and get some great fresh vegetables.

The Barn and Man cave will be open Friday and Saturday too, for your antiques and collectable shopping.

We will close as we usually do, on Aug. 15th and reopen Sept. 15 area with all the fall produce. Some of the vegetables are starting to wind down, and this gives us a chance to regroup and get things picked for the fall. (plus maybe a little camping)

Thanks to all that stop by

Update for Tuesday Aug. 4th:

We will have sweet corn tomorrow!!!! I have 3 young men starting to pick at 7am, so should have plenty ready for you when we open at 9am. Variety is Providence, a bi-color, nice sized slender ear. This is my last patch of the year, so will keep you informed of how long it will last. I'm hoping a couple of days.

The tomatoes are starting to do their thing. We have picked some really nice ones and will have them tomorrow too. We have some flats made up if you want more than just single ones.

Hope to see you tomorrow.

Update on vegetables for Friday, July 31st:
Green Beans: Gail picked some yesterday and have about 20 packages to sell this morning.

Dill: We have a lot of dill right now. Did you know you can freeze dill and have it to use at a later date?

Tomatoes: We have started to pick some tomatoes and have a few on the table. They are not very big yet but oh so good.

Corn: We are out for now. Have a small late patch that will maybe be ready the end of next week? Will let you know on that.

Onions: We continue to work the onions and get them in bags for storage. The "Candy" onions are large and very sweet this year. We sell them by the piece or a large beg. Also have red and white onions.

Potatoes: We have the white Dakota Pearl and the red Norland. They are getting to the mature stage and will be ready for storage soon. We will start selling them in bulk soon. I also planted Purple Vikings that we will sell in the fall. We have some purple potatoes that we are starting to sell also. Neat color.

Peppers: We have bell, garden salsa, jalapeños, heatless jalapeños, serano, and poblano.

Beets: We have a lot of beets now if you are canning them, give us a call.

Kohlrabi, Zucchini , egg plant, and slicing cucumbers are also available.

Remember that The Barn and The Man Cave are open Fridays and Saturdays with antiques and collectables. One thing to check out is we have over 500 cookie cutters. All sizes and shapes, animals, numbers, letters, and many different shapes.

Thanks

This is why we don't have any sweet corn left. Landon was teaching Jack how to speed eat an ear of corn for the contest at the Lincoln County 4-H grounds tomorrow, July 29th at 3:00. We will see if the tutoring pays off!!!

We did pick the last of the patch of X-Tra Tender and only have about 10 dozen ears of corn that I will sell in the morning. Then there is no more corn until a very late batch of Providence Bi-color, in maybe a week or so. Small patch but will let you know if it turns out ok and will probably be selling that for a day or so.
The season went fast. Thanks to all of you for trusting us with your corn needs.

We are getting a few tomatoes every day now. Not huge amounts, but a few to get that great taste of fresh picked ones.

Some updates for this next week.
We had some damage from the winds, but it could have been a lot worse. We are thankful. There is a before and after picture of the sweet corn, and a little damage to the tent.
The corn is down but hopefully will come back up a bit. There is a picture of Jack and Landon, who will have to deal with picking it Tuesday. Fortunately, they have young backs.

As I said, we will pick Tuesday. Variety will be X-tra Tender, all yellow ear that we have had for a few days. After that, I have 1 small amount of my last variety, called Providence. A yellow and white ear that is usually very large. Will see how that finishes forming. We will let you know what might or might not be available for Wednesday.

As usual we will have our normal vegetables all week long.

Good Morning. We had 4/10 of rain last night!!!! So thankful!!!!
No sweet corn again today, Friday July 24. We will pick again Saturday morning and have some available at 9 when we open. Variety will be X-Tra tender 1273, an all yellow ear. Probably our favorite.

Let's talk onions. I have never had such beautiful onions!! We have for many years planted mostly the variety "Candy". If you like a sweet onion, this is the best. They have grown to huge sizes this year. They are mature now and we have started to pull them and start the drying process. We sell them by the piece, and have now started to sell bags of them.
We let ours hang in our shed for about a month to dry and then put them into a basement fridge, and they will last all winter. We eat a lot of onions so it is great to have them all winter long.
If you have never tried one and really like a sweet onion, you need to give these a try.

Thanks for stopping by

Sweet corn update for Thursday, and Friday the 23rd and 24th.
I am out of corn for 2 days. I plan on picking Saturday, the 25th, with I think a fair amount of X-tra Tender, all yellow corn.
Then will try and pick some that next Tuesday if it matures like I think it will. All educated guesses but will let you know next week for sure, where we are at.

Thank you so much to all that have stopped by. So good to see each and every one of you year after year, and a lot of new people too.
