I’ve been reading a lot of posts about Flock cameras in our town and across the US. People are in an uproar over Flock cameras. A year or so ago a bunch of thieves came to our farm while we were at church. Fortunately, we have cameras all over, and we were able to get a partial tag off a truck. Our local police used a Flock type camera to get their tag and find them.

It’s interesting because our homes are now “smart homes”. We give away so much more data than Flock cameras. Your washing machine, stove, thermostat and tv all collect your data. Talk about giving away personal info! Your phone is a walking computer spewing data about you all over the world!!!! Your chipped credit cards and subscriptions collect and give away your data. Newer cars collect data on you too.

Personally, I’d like to go back to. “dumb” appliances, vehicles and cars, etc.

In search of a tea kettle!!!!! Folks, I keep buying tea kettles which just don’t last. I don’t have counter space for an electric one. I want a great quality tea kettle. Suggestions? I would prefer to buy a quality kettle like a solid copper one. Everything I find is made in China or had tin under copper. See the pic for my current disaster of a tea kettle.

Anyone have a Le Creuset to sell?

Each time I use all my AP flour, I like to clean my flour jar. Today I refilled the big jar and made some homemade pancake mix. You do not need to buy premade pancake mix from the grocery. Homemade pancake mix is super easy and so nice to have on hand for a quick meal. Who doesn’t love big fluffy pancakes? 🥞

I’m fed up with grocery stores. High prices and food which goes bad before you can use it. Both a bag of potatoes and a watermelon were rotten within two days of purchase!

Let’s make a Comfrey Tincture. Info about Comfrey from the National Institute of Health. For centuries, comfrey has been used as a traditional medicinal plant for the treatment of painful muscle and joint complaints (Kothmann, 2003; Englert et al., 2005). Commonly found throughout Europe and parts of Asia, the plant also naturalized in North America, where it rapidly spread. Native Americans also recognized its healing powers and included comfrey in their therapeutic armamentarium (Hamel and Chiltoskey, 1975; Stammel, 1986). Comfrey has also been used in veterinary medicine (Rabinovich, 1981).

I keep seeing posts and YouTube videos of lovely homesteaders in their aprons baking apple and pumpkin pies for fall. They talk about autumn and slow country living. Meanwhile, here in the South, we are soaked in sweat, melting into the dirt and doing our best to keep up with canning, cleaning, mucking stalls and planning fall gardens.
