Hi everyone! I hope to be back up and running by spring, hopefully before. I've had trouble with a broken finger since March. I broke it in March and had surgery in March. Then 5 weeks after my surgery, I broke the same finger in a different place. They let me try the non-surgical option for 6 weeks and my tendons wouldn't release, so I had my second surgery yesterday. Hopefully this will take care of it and another 6 weeks of occupational therapy, we'll see how it goes. I sold all my chickens and we're having the old coops taken down and will be building a new coop in winter or spring. Then I'll be out to buy new chickens. I just gotta decide what breed I'm going to keep this time. Right now, I'm leaning toward Orpingtons because of their sweet nature. I'm open to suggestions on the tamest, sweetest hens so they'll be good to my great grandbabies. Thank you all in advance πŸ’•

One of my favorite parts of my day. ***The ducks, geese, Serama roo, and goats belong to my granddaughter, Katelynn Price if anyone is looking for ducks. She has a duck hatching eggs.*** I sold all but 2 hens and 1 rooster and I let Lucy hatch an egg because she wouldn't stop trying. She hatched a little roo on May 4th that she's finished raising so she's back in the larger coop with Junior. Annie died about a month ago. She was about 6 or 7 years old and she died peacefully sitting on her roosting post. I'm letting Lucy and Junior live their lives out like Annie did, unless they start showing signs of distress or pain. I will get more chickens after we tear down the old coops and get a new one built. I'm trying to decide what breed I want and whether or not I'll only keep one breed, or mix them up like I did have. If anyone is interested in the little roo, give me a holler, he's a mixed breed, his Dad was a Light Brahma too who weighed about 14 pounds. The little roo is free, but you'd have to come get him. Located in Lenoir, NC. Have a great evening, morning, afternoon, or night according to where you are ☺️

Downsizing has been hard to do. Trying to decide which of my babies go, and which ones stay has been harder than I expected. But I finally picked. 16 will be going to their new home soon. Another 10 or so will be here but are now owned by my granddaughter. That leaves a select few looking for homes if you are interested, or know someone who might be, shoot me a pm. I have some Light Brahmas and Easter Eggers just starting to lay and Black Cochin roo with his 2 ladies. Also have a big White Jersey Giant roo. I'll see if I have pics to post. All pictures with this post are of my babies who are staying here with me.

I used these Brahmas for raising chicks and they were very productive with a 95% healthy chick hatch rate. Also have some 3 and 4 month Light Brahma and other breeds of pullets (girls) $15 each. 3 and 4 month cockerels (boys) free, variety of breeds. I'll get pictures posted soon.
