Larson Ranch

Larson Ranch Larson Ranch is located in Leoti, KS www.larsonranch.com To do this, we have utilized Artificial Insemination from the beginning.

We started raising registered cattle in 1988, we chose Angus believing they were the most trouble-free cattle that had the greatest potential for our environment. Over the years, LAR has worked to build a foundation of functional females with generations of stacked pedigrees for calving ease, docility, carcass merit, and structural soundness. Additionally, we started ultra-sounding and collecting

carcass-data in 1996 and developed an embryo transfer program in 2000. Implementing technology has definitely helped us to progress our genetics and select the animals that prove themselves on the hoof and in the cooler. The ranch has increased in size over the past 26 years from 20 Angus Cows to now 600 Registered Angus Cows. Prior to 2007 we had marketed just under 1,400 head of our own fat cattle through USPB, all averaging 11% Prime, 35% CAB, and 87% Choice. In 2011, we were proud to have marketed a group of 231 steers that graded 48% Prime, 98% CAB or Higher, and 100% Choice approaching us to 3,000 head of our own fed cattle marketed through USPB. With all of this in mind, our philosophy is to ultimately please our customers and the end-consumers with a high quality product. We do this by running moderate framed cows that are good-footed, fertile, docile, and maintain great udder quality. Our cows are expected to raise a calf and keep up her body condition, even in western Kansas. Finally, the calf needs to perform and grow efficiently resulting with a target harvest of a Prime, Yield Grade 3 beef. We invite you to increase your bottom line with Larson Angus genetics.

I love a windmill picture but this bull in front of the windmill with a full tank is another favorite. When I am out taking pictures I intentionally take pictures just so I can turn them black and white . The contrast of the the shadows and light in this photo make me want to keep my camera with me at all times because I never know when I will we working and look up and "see the light" .

He is risen ✝️

He is risen ✝️

I serve a risen Savior,
He’s in the world today.
I know that He is living,
whatever men may say.
I see His hand of mercy,
I hear His voice of cheer,
And just the time I need Him,
He’s always near.

Refrain:
He lives, He lives!
Christ Jesus lives today!
He walks with me and talks with me
along life’s narrow way.
He lives, He lives, salvation to impart!
You ask me how I know He lives?
He lives within my heart!

In all the world around me
I see His loving care,
And tho’ my heart grows weary
I never will despair;
I know that He is leading
thro’ all the stormy blast,
The day of His appearing
will come at last. [Refrain]

Rejoice, rejoice, O Christian,
lift up your voice and sing
Eternal hallelujahs
to Jesus Christ the King!
The Hope of all who seek Him,
the Help of all who find,
None other is so loving,
so good and kind. [Refrain]
—Hymn author: Alfred Henry Ackley, 1933

Alfred Henry Ackley was born in 1887 in Pennsylvania and showed early musical talent. He studied music in New York City and at the Royal Academy of Music in London, learning piano, cello, and composition.

Ackley later returned to the United States to attend Westminster Theological Seminary and was ordained as a Presbyterian minister in 1914. He served as a pastor in Pennsylvania and later preached in California.

While preaching in California, Ackley encountered a young Jewish man who asked, “Why should I worship a dead Jew?” Ackley responded passionately, “He lives! I tell you, He is not dead, but lives here and now! Jesus Christ is more alive today than ever before. I can prove it by my own experience, as well as the testimony of countless thousands!”
This moment inspired him to write He Lives, a hymn that testifies to the living Christ and the hope of the Resurrection.

✝️
I fully intended to write a reflection worthy of this hymn. But grief is a strange thing.

Easter is a holiday I often spent with my brother. This is the first one without him after his passing in September, and even surrounded by my family, I felt that absence acutely again. We all miss him so very much.

And yet, somehow, this hymn feels even more fitting in my grief today. I do not grieve in despair, as one who has no hope. And that is because of the Resurrection. Jesus was not defeated by death. He lives!

Because He lives, I know His promises are true.
Because He lives, I know I will see my brother again.
Because He lives, I know the grave does not have the final word.

I know my risen Savior has walked with me through some of the most difficult days—comforting me, guiding me, and carrying me when I could not go on. And I know He will continue to be with me all the days of my life.

You ask me how I know He lives?
He lives within my heart.

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to His great mercy, He has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.”
— 1 Peter 1:3

“Death has been swallowed up in victory.
‘Where, O death, is your victory?
Where, O death, is your sting?’”
— 1 Corinthians 15:54–55

“He is not here; he has risen, just as he said.”
— Matthew 28:6

Father God, I lift my beloved home and state of Nebraska up to You in prayer. Father, she is so dry. The winter snows have failed to come. Hot dry winds have blown, starting large fires that have destroyed so much of our beautiful state. Father, the forecast going forward does not look bright. Severe drought looks inevitable. But we are not alone. The winter has been the dryest and warmest for many across this great nation. Our beautiful Rocky Mountains and Intermountain West are parched for snowpack. The western Great Plains of Kansas, Colorado, Oklahoma, New Mexico and Texas are lacking as well. Father God, you are all knowing and loving. You graciously provide our needs. We humbly stand before You and pray for moisture to fall, to soak into our parched ground and to heal the burnt scars of our lands. If moisture is not in Your will we pray for You to walk beside us as we navigate through these challenging times. Please guide us as we look for Your providence in our lives and livelihoods. We pray for the peace that surpasses understanding and for you to strengthen our faith.

Father God, we pray for those who are hurting, for those who have lost so much and for those who are so weary from the strain of this weather. But Father God, remind us that all that we have been given is ultimately Yours, a generous gift that You have called us to be stewards over. Let us rest in the comfort that You are in control and that Your plans for us are good.

Father God, through these challenging times we pray for you to be glorified. Our hearts are lifted to see the thousands of volunteer firefighters who have left the safety of their homes at the drop of a hat to selflessly fight these fires to save the homes of others. We are thankful to the countless volunteers who have provided food and nourishment to the firefighters, to those who have donated items as soon as the call is put out, to the countless semi-trucks that are fully loaded with hay to be donated, to the businesses who are providing supplies to rebuild infrastructure, and to those who are hosting fundraising efforts to help those in need. Father, we are so thankful for the blessing of each individual and their hearts that are full of such great generosity.

Father, you told us in this life there will be many troubles. That we should embrace these trials because suffering produce perseverance, perseverance, character and character, hope. Father, we know these trials that we are going through will not be meaningless. We know you will use them to strengthen us and to further Your kingdom, which will ultimately draw us closer to You. Father God, remind us that our hope is found in You and keep us nestled in the protection and safety of Your loving arms. I pray that through these struggles many will come to know You and will look to You for their comfort, peace and hope, but most importantly as their Savior.

Amen
