Newest additions to the coop! I ordered 11 egg layer chicks and came home with 17.

The silkie eggs will not be part of our egg sales as they are very small eggs. As everyone knows nothing goes to waste on the homestead so they will be dog treats, fed back to the girls as protein snacks, or maybe turned into pickled eggs.

I made angel food cake with strawberry butter cream frosting for Easter and thought you guys needed a recipe card! This is always a hit with our family.

A huge clucking thank you to Buchanan County FD and sheriffs department, as well Atchison County, Platte County and Camden Point for their hard work yesterday. The girls are safe (and the boys) and the FBH is still intact. We were not in immediate danger but with fire that can change very quickly.

Used up some Amish Friendship Bread starter yesterday - Did the OG recipe that was given with the instructions. Set 2 was a Lemon-Blueberry version and set 3 was a s’mores inspired with marshmallow drizzle.
