DRONE POWER
Our horizontal hives always give us unique views into a colony! Here the queen decided to lay all her drone cells in one place which usually is mixed in with worker brood. We love the “honey band” in Layens-Style frames which is on the top third of every brood frame for easier access for feeding. Her other frames are beautifully packed with worker brood so it’s up to her to decide how/where she lays the male/female ratio in the hive.
This Drone population boom will be essential in the summer mating window in our area. Drone Power!
