I recently discovered that some of my barn cats are "visiting" my neighbors, getting free food and affection from them!!! I also found out where one of my first barn kitties went years ago! His name was Tito, from the "Jackson 5" rescues I originally got to be barn cats. He had found a "better offer" and stayed with a neighbor for years! Last summer he randomly showed up here for dinner! I was so excited to know that he was still alive!!
All that to say this: if one of these adorable faces turns up (usually in the Ohio Hill area of Lewiston where we are located) suggesting that no one loves them, know that they are LYING!!! They have their shots, they are spayed/neutered, they have microchips, they have PLENTY of dry food and get wet food every night. Know that I have invested literally thousands of dollars to accomplish this level of love! They have warm places to sleep in the winter! The alpacas and llamas LOVE them too! Please feel free to love them, but let them stay outside so they make it home for dinner when I do a headcount to make sure everyone is okay. When someone doesn't show up for more than one night, I post on FB with pictures and urgent pleas for info.
So, this is a BOLO (be on the lookout) for these faces and don't be fooled by their needy behaviors! I've loved meeting the neighbors who took the time to stop by and ask if I'm missing a cat! While it might be tempting to keep a loving, healthy and already spayed/neutered cat, please know that they are being mourned by me and the alpacas as lost to a predator 😞 or hit by a car!
So if you find one of them, come by One Thing Ranch for a free tour and see the "best cat life possible" that they have been leading!
