The American Angus Association just did their adjustment to the EPD values to reflect current market prices. I now have 10 head in the $400C class. An animal has to excel in alot of traits to score this well. Compare which traits went up. The $Weaning and $Feedlot went up the most. A calf that grows is paying some serious money. POUNDS PAY.

This was always the most popular time in the Boy Scouts! Pinewood Derby racing. A piece of wood, some plastic wheels and graphite on the nail axles to make for a fast car. 5 oz. Is the maximum weight the car can be. There is only one winner, so I went for my passion. ANGUS COWS

Here are 2 fall calves recently weaned. They are each about 775 #.They are out of the same Angus cow. One is from a flush and one is the cows natural calf. One is a steer by Griswolds Bucket List bull. The other is still a bull by the 24 Karat angus bull. Which calf is the 24 Karat calf?

After reading the article in the Western Livestock Journal by Logan Ipsen, I thought I would Google what is going on with the Methane study in Australia. The website I found was farmersforclimateaction.org.au
Here are a couple screen shots of what I found. The general take away is they are looking for moderate sized cows with low DMI. Cows that wean a calf at 50% of her weight or better. The literature I read seems to be traits we are already addressing.

I did a search for an Angus bull that would be in the top 25% for these traits. CED, Foot Claw, Foot Angle, PAP, HP, Teat, Udders, FL and docility at 50%. Only 7 bulls with offspring came up. None of them are promoted by an AI company. My frustration with the big AI bull studs is that over all these years they don't offer bulls with more balanced trait genetics.
I have found 3 bulls from AI bull studs in the none parent category (young bulls, I think the big AI companies are finally catching on)
2 from ST Genetics Stellpflug Open Range #21256208 and Hoffman Heisman #21153933
The other bull is from ABS SITZ Prefix #20893463. I'm doing flushes on the most complementary cows in my herd on these 3 bulls.
