This poor brahma was found by my son the other day unable to walk. I got her to the back porch and isolated her to see how she would recover. She is a fighter, but she had one leg she wouldn't put pressure on and one that just dangled. She now hangs out in the kitchen watching us with those judgemental eyes.

I often share the happy pictures of my hobby farm, but reality is harsher. This baby was rejected and forcefully ejected by mom for whatever reason. (S)he is now disinfected and inside on a heating pad for some needed love and attention.

Miss Harley has joined our farm family. I am pretty sure that she has never set a paw in the grass, so, after bonding for a couple of weeks, she got to do that yesterday.

It may have taken until almost summer, but we finally have new life on the farm! (She hid her eggs in the goat barn.)
