Here’s a quick view of Glory 7 (aka St. Brigid Creamery’s) milk parlor and Dutch Belts. With all the recent hype about how scary raw milk is … I just wanted to pop on here and say … raw milk is not inherently dangerous - it has more to do with your farmer than the milk. Does your farmer hold themselves to high cleanliness standards? Regularly disease test their herd (not just once!) and cull what needs culling? If so, great! If not … we have room for you over here! ❤️ www.glory7farmandranch.com/products/milk

A Farmer’s Prayer Before the Freeze

Tonight, we ask for mercy in the cold.
For wind that softens its grip,
for temperatures that ease just enough
to let life hold on.

Watch over the animals tucked into straw and wood,
the quiet breaths in barns and coops,
the ones who trust us without words.
Keep them warm where our hands can’t reach.

Bless the fences, the heaters, the water lines,
the lamps glowing through the dark.
Bless the tired hands that checked one more time,
and the hearts that won’t rest until morning.

We’ve done what we can.
Now we place the rest in Your care.
Carry us through the long night,
and let the morning come gentle.
Amen

Two good-looking steers headed to the processor today!

This job can be hard some days - these animals a beautiful, and we are so proud that we spend the effort tending them and feeding them only grass for almost three years, and that they lived their entire lives on pasture, eating and playing with their friends. (Yes, cattle play. Just yesterday these guys were running alongside the truck in the pasture headed to check the cows.) But they lived twice as long as steers in a feedlot, and the entire time as God intended these animals to live and grow.

Is it difficult to go out and pick the “fat ones” to go give their life for people’s dinner plates? Yes and no. It’s hard letting beautiful healthy animals go, but, we are blessed to be able to serve people in this way - we have grown animals for food that we are proud of, and that will fill people’s bellies, and nourish them in a healthful way. ❤️🙏🏼
