Super excited to be third after 109 contestants ! Cannot wait to meet her goal in the spring with breeding to Arcangelo . That will be a true Royal contender .
Our inaugural Miss Mareworthy Second Runner-Up is Alessia, known to her family as Nessie! đź‘‘đź’ś
Alessia’s racing career ended after a severe hind-end injury. Recovery took a full year, including months of stall rest and the slow work of learning to trust again. Her family remembers the setbacks, but also the patience she showed the veterinarians and vet techs who cared for her. Today, Alessia is confident, loved, and beginning another chapter as an expectant mother.
Her story earned Alessia the highest combined score from our judges in the Interview category. In her response, she says, “My story isn’t really about the injury I survived. It’s about everything I found on the other side of it.” It’s a beautiful answer from the mare her family calls “the mare who kept going.”
Alessia will receive a Second Runner-Up sash, a $100 cash prize, a Mareworthy swag pack, and a bag of treats from Zero Proof Horse Treats. Congratulations to Alessia and Liz Barcomb! We’re proud to welcome Nessie to the Royal Court.
