Cold weather can cause pipes, valves, and bypasses to freeze and burst if they’re not properly protected. A few simple steps can go a long way in preventing issues:
Cold Weather Protection Tips:
Keep your home heated, even if you are away.
Open cabinet doors under sinks to allow warm air to circulate around plumbing.
Drip faucets slightly to keep water moving during extreme cold.
Insulate exposed pipes, especially in garages, crawl spaces, and exterior walls.
If you have a whole-home filtration or softener system, make sure it is protected from freezing temperatures.
