In Ardmore today on farm tours with the southern Oklahoma urban-small farm hub. We had lots of great classes yesterday on regenerative farming (restoring pastures and farms to better native grasses and water conservation methods) and today is the tours where we see these ideas in practice.

Fun farm story of the day.
So last night we gave our neighbor 3 older hens, as he is just starting into chickens and wanted some laying hens, and we have plenty right now. I just picked 3 out randomly and he took them home. This morning I realized that our chicks were wandering around without their momma!!! Turns out that she was on the roost, as it was too hot to cuddle the babies, and I'd given her away!!! I called my neighbor and explained the predicament. He wasn't home, but gave me permission to go repossess my chicken. I took a chick in a crate to try to determine who momma was and fortunately it worked. She was wandering around making the momma cluck sound and when I put the baby's crate next to her she came right over. I loaded her in the crate and brought her home. I put the crate in the coop and opened the door. She stepped out and clucked for her babies and they ran over and were so excited to see her again. Happy ending to our most recent farm adventure!!!
