Let’s talk about my sweet Ruth. ❤️
Ruth was purchased quite a while back with every intention of ending up as beef. The plan was simple: fatten her up along with the others and eventually fill the freezer.
Then came day one.
We unloaded her from the trailer, and before we knew it, she walked right up to Nick and me looking for pets. We looked at each other and immediately knew:
"Yep... we're out of a beef."
Both of us, but especially Nick, have a soft spot for Jerseys, and from that moment on, we just didn't have the heart to send her to the processor.
I prayed that when we tested her, she would come back clean and be able to stay as a permanent member of our milking girls.
The Lord answered.
She came back squeaky clean.
So Ruth was pulled from the beef field and introduced to our little dairy herd.
Next step: make her a mama.
For the last year, I've watched Ruth love on the other Jersey calves, patiently waiting for one of her own. This morning, it was finally her turn.
She delivered the most perfect little heifer.
God is so good. While this life can be exhausting at times, we are incredibly blessed to witness His handiwork over and over again.
We are deeply thankful for the opportunity to care for His creation each day and to experience the countless reminders of His goodness, grace, and provision along the way.
Days like today make all the hard work worth it. ❤️
It has been such a joy watching this sweet girl finally get a baby of her own. After all this time, seeing her become a mama feels extra special. And now, I can't wait to get her into the stanchion and see just how wonderful she truly is as a milk cow.
