The freezer is stocked! 🐖

We currently have a limited supply of our Brown Sugar Maple, Hot, and Breakfast Sausage available.

We're already making plans for another trip to the processor, but if you've been waiting to stock up, now's the time. At the rate things are moving, we expect what we have on hand to be gone within a week.

Farm pickup is available!

We'll also have sausage with us at the BV Market this Friday from 3:00-6:00 PM. Magnolia Square!

Oh, my Ruth. ❤️

Last night was the very first time we've ever milked her. Sure, she's friendly, but even the friendliest cow isn't guaranteed to enjoy having her teats tugged on by a machine. 😂

I went into it with zero expectations. I didn't want to get my hopes up only to have her decide my face looked kickable.

But, as usual, Ruth didn't let me down... and boy, did SHE let down. 🥛 She stood like an absolute saint through the whole thing.

The result? 3.5 gallons of LIQUID GOLD.

And before anyone judges the containers.... The paying customers get the fancy jars and we use what we have for ourselves. 😂

Let’s talk about my sweet Ruth. ❤️

Ruth was purchased quite a while back with every intention of ending up as beef. The plan was simple: fatten her up along with the others and eventually fill the freezer.

Then came day one.

We unloaded her from the trailer, and before we knew it, she walked right up to Nick and me looking for pets. We looked at each other and immediately knew:

"Yep... we're out of a beef."

Both of us, but especially Nick, have a soft spot for Jerseys, and from that moment on, we just didn't have the heart to send her to the processor.

I prayed that when we tested her, she would come back clean and be able to stay as a permanent member of our milking girls.

The Lord answered.

She came back squeaky clean.

So Ruth was pulled from the beef field and introduced to our little dairy herd.

Next step: make her a mama.

For the last year, I've watched Ruth love on the other Jersey calves, patiently waiting for one of her own. This morning, it was finally her turn.

She delivered the most perfect little heifer.

God is so good. While this life can be exhausting at times, we are incredibly blessed to witness His handiwork over and over again.

We are deeply thankful for the opportunity to care for His creation each day and to experience the countless reminders of His goodness, grace, and provision along the way.

Days like today make all the hard work worth it. ❤️

It has been such a joy watching this sweet girl finally get a baby of her own. After all this time, seeing her become a mama feels extra special. And now, I can't wait to get her into the stanchion and see just how wonderful she truly is as a milk cow.

Good news: Our pasture-raised chickens are officially back in stock! 🎉

We have one bird left that hasn’t hit the freezer yet if you’d like a fresh, never-frozen chicken.

Halves and whole birds are available.

Now for the not-so-good news: we’re taking a little breather.

With Nick’s new career path, it’s become clear that keeping up at the scale we’ve been operating at with essentially one person running things is possible, but it’s also exhausting. We do have one more batch currently growing out, but after that, we’re not sure what the rest of the year will look like. 🤷🏻‍♀️

So if you’ve been thinking about stocking your freezer, don’t wait too long. Get them while we’ve got them!

Life changes have put a lot of farm things on the back burner lately. As much as we’ve tried to keep things running as normally as possible, we realized our main focus became simply keeping everything healthy, happy, and thriving.

We truly appreciate everyone’s continued support through this new season of life and are excited to share that we’ll be restocked on all of our pasture-raised pork at the beginning of June, with beef following later in the month!

Ya know the hardest part about raising livestock?Knowing they won’t be with you forever.

Around here, animals usually have a purpose. Sometimes they stay to grow the herd, sometimes they leave to make room for the next chapter, and sometimes they help cover the feed bill that never seems to stop climbing. That’s just part of farm life.

But I think what makes this life hard is also what makes us good at it. We love them deeply. We care for them every single day they’re here, and long after they’re gone we still think about them. Around here there’s no such thing as “just a cow” or “just a goat.” They’re part of our days, our routines, our stories. They’re blessings God trusted us with for a season, and we’re grateful for every one of them.

Watching these two kids leave yesterday about split me in half. These babies were raised right at my back door. They’ve lounged on my porch, snuck onto my couch, followed me around the farm all day long, and kept me and the kids laughing nonstop. But we can’t keep them all. We’ve done our part loving and raising them, and now it’s their turn to go bless another family while helping pay for the next round of feed.

I’m beyond thankful they went to people we know and trust. That softens the sting a little. 🤍
