THE TRUTH ABOUT YOUR GROCERY STORE RANCH SHAKER

Ever look at the size of those store brand ranch containers and think you’re getting a massive deal? Take a closer look.

By law, ingredients must be listed in order of weight, highest to lowest. On both the Name Brand and Off Brand shakers, the very first ingredient isn’t herbs or real dairy. It’s Maltodextrin (a cheap, processed corn starch filler used to artificially puff up the bottle).

When you strip away the processed starches, MSG, and chemical gums, roughly 65% of their jar is filler padding.

- Acid Casein: A chemically stripped dairy extract that triggers milk sensitivities.
- Calcium Stearate: A synthetic, waterproof flow agent used so the powder doesn't stick into a solid brick.

My recipe contains ZERO fillers, ZERO chemical gums, and ZERO fake flavors. My first ingredient is real buttermilk powder, followed by premium sea salt, garlic, onion, dill, and chives. Because I don't dilute my blend with industrial starches, you get a richer, cleaner, more concentrated flavor at a much better value ($1.82 per pure ounce).

Update on my little duck pond. It's holding water!!! For now... Lol. Still have some digging to do but the ducks seem happy!

Pond progress update!

If you didn’t know, my duck setup is split into the "wetlands" (the run with a tiny puddle area) and the "grasslands" (the pasture). But more ducks means we officially need more pond!

I started digging a while ago and it immediately filled up, so I jumped back into it today. I’ve officially completed two new pond zones, and I hired some cheap labor to help finish the job. The ducks are currently on trench-digging duty to connect them! Teamwork makes the dream work!!!

Eventually, I'll dig it out more, and I’m still deciding if I will line it or pack it. It is definitely a major work in progress, and let me tell you, it is way too HOT out there today!

Update on AC... It is fixed. Thanks to Jess and Moss for coming over to assess the situation and then Sooner Heat & Air for coming to replace the capacitor. I googled it... It was scary... I build fences, coops and garden beds.... I don't do electric! But it's cooler now and that makes everyone happy! Thank you all for the msg's and texts. I appreciate you all!

I do apologize y'all. We thought we fixed the AC last night but we did not. Bruce has to work so I will need to stay home and pray our AC guy can come today. So I will not make it to Noble Farm Market today. Also Slaughterville Farmers Market is closed today. I will open my digital farmstand later today for pre orders for next week. Before you buy overalls and start naming chickens, listen to your veteran homesteading friends because Google absolutely lied to you. You think a few YouTube tutorials prepared you for this, but homesteading is actually just a low-budget prison break movie mixed with a mental asylum.

Two weekends ago, one goose died. I bought a replacement, kept her under house arrest for a solid week, and last weekend while I was simply cleaning her coop, she saw her moment, snuck past me, and flew into the sunset.

Fast forward to last night... I walked into the female pig pen and they tried to take me down like a pack of wild hyenas. I don't know if these animals love me, hate me, or just view me as a walking vending machine. Then today, the boar busted through his fence to join those same girls for an unapproved romance fest.

The AC died in 100-degree weather. Bruce fixed it thankfully. Meanwhile, the quail are doing parkour zoomies directly into the walls. The turkeys have officially entered their emo stage where they try to unalive themselves every chance they get.

They said "build a homestead, it will be fun," but they forgot to mention you'll need a tactical riot shield, a hazmat suit, a search-and-rescue team, and a three-day nap just to survive a single mission.

I really need coffee....
