So excited that the well was dug today and like adjacent neighbors, we didn't have to go deep! Yay!

Fencing materials get delivered tomorrow, test pits for septic were dug today and spoke with contractor about access road.

My preferred vet had to cancel for vet inspection tomorrow due to pregnancy concerns so reached out to my backup vet. Hope he can fit us in within a week or so.

I bought extra tubs so I can begin packing items that I need to see and have access to after the move.

Prepping for a fight with the IRS for my tax refund so I can pay the livestock transporters.....the government should not hold our own money when its owed us, but what can I expect from the current, corrupt administration. You can spend millions on wasteful projects, but not reimburse us for tax overpayments......just a silly situation and totally unacceptable.

Meanwhile, overnight and early morning the area had a terrible round of thunderstorms, so bad that I had a river running thru my back fields. But all is well now, but I have seen other locations nearby that are still flowing with crazy run off. it was mighty indeed.

Tonight sitting on the porch, it’s very warm and sticky as a another system rolls thru. Not sure we’ll will have rain tonight or tomorrow but there is a threat.

So glad the sheep are finally sheared and will feel more comfortable as the cuts from shearing heal. Cuts on merino sheep at shearing are almost inevitable but a really good shearer knows how to push and stretch out wrinkles. I was able to dry and skirt two fleeces. Only 10
More to go!

Glad that we were also able to catch and inspect all the female alpacas and worm those who needed it. There are a few who are really skinny and I have been trying to put on weight but if a parasite load is high, there isn’t much to do. But also glad to see that my May worming, hygiene protocol and increased rations may be
Paying off. The vet comes next week to create the certificate of vet inspection and I am glad everyone will pass. There are a couple with the ongoing skin issues as a ewe with her annual eye skin irritation but she clears up every fall and winter.

I am looking forward to returning to the west after 7.5 years in Kentucky. I look forward to small town life, getting to know and be known by neighbors, making long term connections and celebrating life with big mountains, tall trees, clear Water in lakes and steams as well as a
Big sky full of stars visible from my own place without lights.

Still lots of preparation and planning but everyday is another day closer to my dream.

Well, one month from today, my household belongings and maybe livestock will be on the road headed to our new home in Colville, Wa!

The well will be drilled next week and electrician and site development contractor are prepping their schedule for us. The tiny home has been purchased and entire property mowed. Still working out details on shipping containers for storage and pasture fencing.

Sheep will be sheared next Tuesday and thankful for the guys cause we can worm them, trim hooves, address some health issues and check all alpacas and worm some I know who need help. All this is being done to ensure a trip that is as stress free for the livestock as possible.

My stresses are making sure I have all the livestock panels gathered even tho we still need to use, mowing fields one last time, arranging manure, compost and shelter clean up, getting livestock trailer ready for a cross country trip with dogs, cats, plants, food and items not suitable for interstate travel.

I am waking up in middle of the night with a racing mind and full bladder only to find it difficult to fall asleep again. But I expect this during this last month.

It’s been a very productive couple of days and I am relaxing over a wonderful meal outdoors in the patio.

Yesterday while laid over in Dallas, funds were wired as part of the down payment for my new place. Today after meeting the well driller, electrical utility rep and electrician, I ordered the new property address and got the PO Box. Then had lunch with my real estate agent before heading south to Spokane to complete the wire
Transfer for the down payment.

Then back to Colville for a bit of exploring and
Finally dinner. I have the quiet time to download all the things to still complete, folks to meet tomorrow and agreements made with utility company.

The views each way from the plaza are
Lovely as I am in the middle of downtown.

Well the Lexington house and farm property officially belong to someone else. We closed escrow on the sale today. Its sort of a bittersweet feeling letting go of all my efforts, and I feel anxious, but the new adventure begins.

I have travel plans for next week to go to Washington to work with various contractors and the county on all the improvements needed before we officially make the journey and begin the new life.

Keep sending positive thoughts everyone! I cannot thank you enough for all the support.

We have a well location at the new place! I wish it wasn’t as far away from power as I like and shallower, but I will wait for the final report before I make my decision.

More move activity underway! Tractor move is arranged as well as personal property, deposits paid. Water surveyor is out today to determine best location for well.

Lexington house closes escrow next Friday and my new property the following week. So if I get the report next week about ideal location for the well, I will contact the driller and new power company to arrange that development.

I was hoping to host a garage sale to take advantage of the holiday weekend but it is supposed to rain the whole weekend so will have to postpone until a little later. I want to slim down my possessions to make the move and storage easier.

Wow! New adventure coming rapidly.
