I’m thinking of selling my Backwoods Party (original) smoker that was a game changer for me as a BBQ pitmaster. Purchasd new about 15 years ago, i’ve smoked hundreds, maybe thousands of lbs of meat, fish, cheese in this bad boy. Holds 18 racks of ribs! Incredible temp management, just a joy to smoke on!

It’s in need of some serious tlc - metal work to repair the rotting walls of the smoke and fire chambers. If you’re comfortable welding or know someone who is ( in Maine), this fabulous smoker can be restored.

(I might ask for a modest donation to a food-related nonprofit to w**d out people who just want something for free.)

Biggest smoke so far this year:
- chuck roast (pulled beef)
- ribs (pic)
- sausages
- duck breasts
- chicken thighs
- eggplant 🍆 for baba ghanoush
- bluefish for pate
- salmon

Not done yet, but perfect weather and my FatBoy smoker and I are working well together!

Starting with the butts I smoked then froze in October, I joined a great crew at Lex Eat Together to pull the pork and make about 50 sandwiches for distribution.

I took advantage of this amazing autumn weather to do a long day smoke (14 hours) using both smokers.

- Pork butts for a future Lex Eat Together pulled pork dinner
- full packer brisket (with salt free rub on the point) to send my father in law
- 8 racks of ribs rescued by Food Link to give to supporters of my Ride For Food for Boston Area Gleaners
- **1st time** Hog Jowls!
- not pictured: sausages ofc, eggplants for baba ghanoush

Very successful! Especially the brisket which was so juicy and smelled like heaven

Well… hoping I learn as much from failure as I do success…

When I woke early, I saw my smoker was more like an incinerator! Temp spiked, water boiled off and the firebox door had popped open. Opened smoker door to a literal ball of fire as oxygen hit the chamber.

Eventually I removed the charred embers and now I wait for everything to cool down so I can clean up and assess damage.
Sad… for the Prime brisket and for my father-in-law who was looking forward to enjoying it.

But, I’ll get back at it in a couple days to smoke all the other items I have lined up.
