Yearlings , yearlings , yearlings! I finished the last 6 of my clients sending in Book 1 horses today. Every farm has its own traditions and tricks of the trade to put the finishing touches of the horses they will present. I treated two groups covered in baby oil and tucked safely in their stalls out of the sun, one who relies on Vitamin D and elbow grease Two that use Helmans mayonnaise < I shoulder to think about salmonella , and one who has a secret formula that makes the whole barn smell like an expensive Italian restaurant . Someday I';;share the secret of 'Naked Horse" hot toweling but for now this is more fun does ruin your clothes though....

Yearling sales prep... The first babies ship into Keeneland on the fifth. I have so many new sport horse clients who have never been to the sales or have any idea of how amazing the thoroughbred industry they live in the middle of is. I'm taking a couple groups with me this year to see it in person. I'm hoping introducing them to what goes on behind the scenes will help us preserve the traditions that make Lexington so special!
