Before Town Branch was a bottle, it was a vision carried by Dr. Pearse Lyons.

An Irish-born brewing scientist and entrepreneur, Pearse purchased the former Lexington Brewing Company in 1999 and set out to revive Lexington’s brewing and distilling tradition. That vision grew into Town Branch Distillery, which opened in 2012 as the first new distillery built in Lexington in more than a century.

Pearse believed heritage was not something to preserve behind glass, but something to build upon. His curiosity, determination and deep connection to generations of Irish brewers, coopers and distillers continue to shape who we are today.

As Bourbon Heritage Month begins, we honor the man whose vision brought Town Branch to life—and the legacy his family and our team proudly carry forward.

Here’s to Dr. Pearse Lyons: a visionary, an innovator and the beginning of a new chapter in Lexington bourbon history.

A Town Branch barrel starts its journey aging bourbon, then continues on through our Kentucky Bourbon Barrel beers, finds new purpose in whiskey finishing and single malt aging, and eventually makes its way to Pearse Lyons Distillery to help age Irish whiskey.

One barrel. Many chapters. Less waste. More flavor.
