Timestamp: 9:30pm- Ben & Michael just finished working on the Hay Barn for the night and I am just finishing planting Green Beans and some corn with my dad's Earthway Seeder . The entire team worked hard today and it was nice to be able to put something in the oven before I went out to the fields to start planting and watering. Pasta & Provisions Manicotti- Only 8 simple ingredients. Lovely and filling, but light for a night that is already showing the Summer heat !

The girls at Lutheridge are busy this morning- busy producing the best milk in North Carolina (at least)! We are so appreciative of all the hard work the Luther and Wetmore family do to give us amazing milk for our family and yours!

After a quick trip yesterday afternoon to Celebrity Goat dairy we have all of your favorites back in stock, including some amazing gelato. Lauren delivered her sourdough bread today and we have all your favorite cuts in stock. Come see us until 830 tonight.🥰

Some morning require a bit of a slower start. We are dipping out toes into Sunday with a cup of Foster Fobbs Hazelnut Coffee and a Vanilla Biscotti from Rabble & Rise Baking Co.

The stuffed shells that we carry from Pasta and Provisions are absolutely top-notch. And yes, it is 930 at night. We are just now coming inside to eat dinner. Thankfully, we have a few things like this in the Farm Store that we can put directly in the oven for a healthy and amazing meal. As you know, Pasta and Provisions only puts real ingredients in her products which is why we carry them. These stuffed shells only have the finest pasta, noodles, ricotta cheese, Romano, and mozzarella cheese, egg, basil, plum tomatoes, onion, and olive oil. Eating their stuffed shells tonight reminds me of one of my favorite Italian restaurants that I love to go to in Waynesville, North Carolina. It closed in the early 2000s but it was absolutely lovely. These take me back !!

Did you know that when you support our farm you support the skill and financial growth of our area youth?? As things are changing throughout our Nation it has become more clear that our dollars are moving out of our community and state and into the hands of unknown large corporations. That is not the case at Crossings. 40% of the dollars that come into the farm go out to our labor force, who are often earning money for college, car payments, insurance, cell phone payments, etc. This allows these individuals to "pay their own way", which is vital for their own growth. We also have several young adults who work at the farm as a second job to help not only support their income, but to grow them in their skills. For awareness: 50% of our income goes to a local farmer who raises our non-GMO feed in many of the beautiful fields that you drive past each day. The other 10% goes into day to day operations, animal purchases, etc. And no, Ben and I do not take a salary or a "cut" at this time (we get asked this quite often so we thought we would just address it now).

We continually to be humbled by everyone who comes to the farm store or the Lexington Farmers Market NC - - Depot District, or purchase at Piedmont Fresh to support our farm and other local growers and producers. By supporting local farms, you are supporting how we keep Davidson County as an agricultural county AND you are supporting local youth and young adults who are doing VERY hard work every day. - Thank you !!

Saturday evening & Sunday morning walk - We finally retired our original Piglet Nursery after 14 yeas of service and rebuilt it bigger and a bit sturdier JUST in time for the next batch of piglets !! We like to put the nursery in the woods as it gives them a since of security after being with their moms for their entire lives- allows little spots to hide and rest. Max, ever the guardian was shocked to find them this morning- and maybe a little embarrassed that he did not find them on his nightly rounds- AS he should be !!! Our Sunday morning farm walk showed a ton of lettuce ready to go, Peppers looking good and our tomatoes a bit behind ( but that's OK !). The Basil is really starting to produce and we expect that with the warm weather coming all of our plants will really take off. AND the muscadine vines are starting to show TONS of tiny grapes. God is Good- and we are blessed. The farm store is OPEN until 8:30 tonight. we have FRESH whole chickens, BASIL PESTO, Eggs, Lutheridge RAW MILK, Muscadine Jelly and all the other amazingly healthy things you love from our farms and other local growers/bakers. We would be truly honored to have you out today. Please remember cash, check and Venmo only. That you !!
