Our lambs are growing like weeds. They are becoming more independent, enjoying the grass, creep feed and playing with their friends.

Little Nora is the first of the Valais to be weaned, as she will be making her way to her new home in Oklahoma this weekend.

🐾 Why Foster? Because Saving One Life Leads to Saving Another. 🐾

One of the hardest parts of fostering is saying goodbye. But every time a foster dog leaves for their forever home, it creates space for another life to be saved.

Foster dogs are never “just passing through.” They leave paw prints on our hearts, teach us about unconditional love, and remind us why we started in the first place.

❤️ You don’t have to commit for a lifetime to make a lifetime of difference.

By opening your home temporarily, you provide:
🐶 A safe place to heal and decompress
🐶 Love and socialization
🐶 A chance for adopters to see their true personality
🐶 Hope for the next dog waiting for rescue

Fostering isn’t losing a dog you love. It’s helping a dog find the family they were always meant to have.

You are the bridge between homelessness and happily ever after.

Be a foster. Save a life. Then save another.

If you’ve ever thought about fostering, this is your sign. The next wagging tail and grateful heart could be waiting for you. 🐾❤️

Rule #1 at 17 Acre Woods Ranch: Never complain about the weather.

Too hot? The sheep are mostly happy.Too cold? The sheep are happy.Too dry? We pray for rain.Too wet? We pray for sunshine.Windy? The chickens look confused, but life goes on.

Out here, Mother Nature doesn’t take requests, refunds, or complaints. She just sends us a surprise every day and expects us to figure it out.
So we’ll keep feeding, fencing, fixing, and farming—whether it’s 105° in August or 25° in January.
Because ranch life isn’t about perfect weather… it’s about making the best of whatever weather shows up.

For those of you looking for an update on bottle baby Noel, she has been fully weaned off her bottle but this video shows what she thinks of that.

Noel is in her tantrum era and likes to tell us through her voice how she is not pleased with no longer getting a bottle. She also likes to nudge Nash while he’s having his bottle to try and steal it, throw herself against the wall and try and climb on me to say feed me :)

We’ve gotten a lot of rain in Central, Texas. As a result, the garden is continuing to grow! This week we picked 8 cucumbers, lots of onions, squash and some green beans! We are starting to see tomatoes, watermelon, cantaloupe, berries and grapes too!

Can’t wait too for more fresh flowers to pick!

Here is the bloopers video from Chris Kalinowski trip to the vet with Bluebonnet Animal Rescue Network foster pups this week. In true LGD fashion Lucky thinks hard first about whether he wants to listen or whether he wants to just go sit up front with the lambs.

Does your LGD listen or do the opposite of everything you say?
