Officially bottle babies. I almost made the season without which is unheard of so far. I’ve been more than lucky so no complaints…even if they are boys 🤣

At 24 hours old they’re now weighing in at 16oz and 8oz. I’ve had a few tiny, one-pounders but Mr. Half a Pound wins the tiniest goat award (he was only 6oz at birth 😳)!

After a short break from new babies, I came home to two tiny kids from Orbie. Both are boys 🤯 The luck had to run out eventually. I’m crossing my fingers and toes they don’t become bottle babies but so far Orbie is terrified of them ☹️

Girls - 21 (2 deceased)
Boys - 4

And I think this ends kidding season 🤞🏻

Poppy picked a good day to have her babies. She had two girls and one boy. Sadly, one girl didn’t make it. First was the black and white girl, second was taking a while and Poppy needed a little help because he was huge! Little girl came out right after him. It looked like her cord was severed before the boy came out and she took in too much fluid to recover from. I tried so hard to get her back but she never took a breath on her own 😢 The two are doing great though and as usual, Poppy is a stellar mama. This mama is happy to have a little break from babies for a bit…hopefully enough time to prep for the next arctic cold front forecasted next week 😬

Sidenote: This is the first season having several kids with curled ears. They’re adorable and I know will straighten with time but curious 🧐

There was a full moon last night and it was cold! Perfect time for more babies 🙄

Mary Jane had a giant girl 🎀🎉! I didn’t even help with drying her off, MJ had it all under control. After making sure there were no more kids coming and watching this girl latch I went inside to get ready for bed.

For peace of mind I decided to check Ruku who wasn’t in a kidding pen yet (um, because I’m fresh out!). She still had firm ligaments earlier in the evening but it was a full moon, near freezing and if you know goats and the “Doe Code” then you understand. Sure enough this girl had a baby under the freaking front deck…at midnight. I had to get my daughter out to crawl under and fetch the baby. I thank my lucky starts every day for this girl of mine. This part of goating isn’t her favorite (or anyone’s 😂) but she never complains…even when crawling under a scary, wet, freezing cold deck at midnight. Love her ❤️ Anyway, we couldn’t see another baby under there but Ruku wasn’t moving and then I heard the faintest cry. It took a minute to locate the tiny babe but we did it. Poor thing was barely alive, already becoming stiff…but I had to try to save her. After the longest night and morning ever, both GIRLS 🤯🎀🎀🎉🎉 are maintaining their temperature, the more alive 😅 of the two is nursing and back from the dead babe has started taking steps! Mom and babes are in my laundry room until I figure out a better plan. I’m tube feeding tiniest babe until she’s strong enough to nurse but mama is being so sweet and attentive. I won’t go into Ruku but there were moments I almost called my mobile vet at 3am 😳 Thankfully all are much better this afternoon 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

So I think we’re up to 18 girls and 1 boy with Poppy on deck for delivery today (hopefully in the daylight 😂).

Orchid thought under the deck was a great spot to have a baby 🙄

She was forgiven after finding out it’s a GIRL 🎀

Katrina just had a giant kid! First time mama with a picture perfect delivery. Baby is so alert, started searching for a teat immediately and was nursing within 2 minutes of entering the world! If it were human I’d give it an Apgar score of 10 😂
