๐ฌ๐ฅ Farm*Science*Adventure! ๐ฅ๐ฌ
Our campers became real microbiologists this week โ and the petri dishes had a surprise for us!
We ran bacterial incubations comparing raw milk vs. pasteurized milk, and the results flipped what a lot of folks expect. Our raw milk stayed cleaner while the pasteurized plates filled in โ a perfect chance to talk with the kids about why that happens, how milk gets handled, and what's really going on at the microscopic level. Watching them puzzle through the "but WHY?" was the best part. ๐ฆ
We also put our teat-cleaning solution to the test โ swabbing before and after to see how well it knocks out bacteria before milking. Spoiler: clean technique matters, and now our young farmhands know why we do what we do at the parlor.
There's nothing like seeing a kid connect a chore on the farm to the science happening at a level they can't even see. This is exactly the hands-on, get-your-hands-dirty learning we live for out here. ๐
Okay, now we want YOUR ideas! ๐ What fun science experiment should we tackle next? Drop your suggestions in the comments โ the campers will vote on their favorites!

๐ A quick note: This was a hands-on science demonstration about microbiology, not a statement about food safety. We are not promoting raw milk as safe to drink โ results from a single classroom experiment don't reflect that, and pasteurization remains the recommended way to make milk safe for consumption. Always follow current food safety guidance.
