🐮Meet the Newest Member of the Farm!

Looks like this little guy couldn’t wait to make introductions! He marched right up to my father-in-law to say hello.

I’d say Zach might need to be a little worried… this calf seems to have already picked his favorite human! šŸ™ƒšŸ˜‚

šŸ‘ø Hanging Out with the Princesses šŸ‘ø

Meet the royal court of FolkLohr Farms:

✨ Aurora – Dun
ā¤ļø Ariel – Red Belt
šŸ–¤šŸ¤ Vanellope – Panda
🌟 Belle – Belted

These girls are absolutely beautiful, and I just adore them. No matter where they are in the pasture, they’re usually together standing so regal and looking every bit like royalty.

And then there’s poor Teddy… faithfully trailing behind the princesses, hoping for a little attention while they keep him on his toes. šŸ˜‚

Watching their personalities develop is one of my favorite parts of raising these mini cattle. They may be small, but they certainly know how to run the kingdom! šŸ®šŸ‘‘šŸ’•

Some days farm life just breaks you. They say ā€œit happensā€, or ā€œit’s a part of farmingā€ but it doesn’t make it any easier. You always think of all the ā€œwhat if’sā€ā€¦ ā€œwhat if I had checked on her earlierā€, ā€œwhat if I had gotten there soonerā€, etc…

This week has hurt in ways I can’t really put into words. And honestly… I don’t have anything inspirational to say right now.

I’m just holding onto the promise that joy comes in the morning. Tomorrow I’ll put the muck boots back on, today I am mourning.

Someone’s excited for company!! 🤩 Momma was eating hay this evening, not out of the woods yet but every day she is doing a little better.

Sparkle became a first-time momma today, and thankfully my in-laws had been watching her closely for us. They knew pretty quickly that something just wasn’t right. After several long hours of Zach and some amazing neighbors doing everything they could to help deliver this calf with all their strength, it became clear we were running out of options.

At that point, we had to make the difficult call for an emergency c-section.

This is the second c-section we’ve experienced on our farm. It is one of those things you pray you never have to go through, but tonight we are deeply thankful it was an option. In situations like this, it truly becomes the difference between life and death.

Farm life is beautiful, but it can also be heartbreaking, emotional, and unpredictable. Tonight reminded us how important experience, quick action, good neighbors, and an amazing vet really are.

We are incredibly thankful to share that both momma and baby made it through surgery. The calf is a big, beautiful bull calf, and Sparkle is resting and recovering tonight. We know the next few days will be important, but right now we are just grateful they are both still here.

Thank you to everyone who jumped in to help, checked on us, prayed, or offered encouragement today. Small farming communities are something special. ā¤ļøšŸ„

There’s something special about slowing down and connecting with the animals that make this place feel like home šŸ¤

We realized Murphy wasn’t fully opening up to us while he was so closely bonded to his pasture mate. Making the decision to rehome his companion wasn’t easy, but it created the space he needed to start building trust with us and we’re so proud of how far he’s come already.

Moments like this remind us why we do it all. The early mornings, the long days, the muddy boots. It’s not just about farming… it’s about trust, patience, and the quiet bond built over time.

Big Mac is weaning off his momma and looking for new pastures. This guy thinks he is tuff stuff yet will still cuddle in your arms with sweet love grunts in your ear. He is intact and being sold as a MDGA registered buckling. He can be stripped of his manhood if his new home desires a not so smelly cuddle version.
