Here’s a great article from one of my favorite bloggers.
This is really good information for those new to fresh farm chicken eggs.

Fresh eggs shouldn't be washed until just before you use them. There's a natural bloom that protects them in the meantime.

🤦🏼‍♀️ our youngest cat, LouDog got a cut on the pad of his foot this morning. Took the black layer off and cut the other half. He was reaching under the heating registers along the wall trying to get a dust ball! Needlesstosay, after just a short three minutes, this bandage was tore off and he was strutting around again. Thankfully, he kept the second one on.

This took some work! Taco- middle is 2.5, Lola- left is 1.2 and Layla is 9 weeks old. Taco is super stubborn and doesn’t like to sit, though it was the first command he learned. Lola is great at sitting, though pushes the limits with everything else and Layla has just learned to sit and can almost stay for about 23 seconds! What progress she’s made in just a weeks time.

Sunday was a farm cleaning day! The rabbits got a full clean out from the winter straw to second cut hay. This will be added as needed. I change their pine shavings once a week and now that the weather is nice and the snows all gone, they will be outside in their Xpens for a good share of their days getting off some of that winter weight.
The chickens get a full clean out twice a month. Now that the weather is getting warmer, I first lay DE down to help the smell. I like that better then the lime. The girls seem to agree. Next comes a large brick of pine shavings.
This coming weekend I’ll be replacing the nesting box with a new one, taking out the roosts to power wash those and then building a large bin at the top of the feeding tubes- the white PVC tubing on the left, so I can add a whole bag of food that will then drop into the feeding tubes. These get covered each night to help against rodents.
Green Pest Defense is a great all green (pet and human safe) rodent company that helps us protect the farm from rodents, ticks, hornets, beetles and many more unwanted bugs! They have been a lifesaver!

Welcome to Wishing Well Farm! I’m glad to see you here.

I created this page, really for the fun of it. I wanted a place to post pictures, talk farm stuff and share knowledge about farming.

I’ll be starting a big garden this year and possibly adding goats. My goal would be to milk them, selling goats milk and making cheese next year or the following.

I would love to have a farm stand at the end of our driveway to sell eggs and veggies with the goal of getting bigger garden beds for next year. This really is a set up year. Did I mention, we are all organic! From soil, to seeds too any and all feed, it’s all organic!!

On the farm we have - 16 chickens, 3 ducks, 3 rabbits, 3 dogs and 3 cats. I think we like the number three! 😂

Some pictures of Sunday farm cleaning will follow.
