Perfect day for a road trip up the coast to Rockland. Our new Coopworth herd-sire arrived via ferry from North Haven Island. He is a handsome guy with a gorgeous fleece! He will meet the girls after quarantine. I’ll be dreaming of lambs all winter 🤩🤩

What to do on a beautiful sunny fall day? Skirting wool!
A perfect day to go through spring shearing, decide what I’m going to process myself and what’s going the mill

I love all my sheep- they are all unique in their own way. Not sure unique is an accurate description for thing one and thing two but I love the two troublemakers and they have a forever home here ❤️My goal is to spin this over the winter and knit something for myself. Long-term goals 😊.
This wool stunning!

Tools…..every job requires specific tools, farming is no different. I’ve used a three tine pitch fork for as long as I can remember and still do at least 2 x daily. I have several, most with broken handles. They have been passed down for generations and some are well over 75 years old. Modern wooden handles just don’t fit them…our local Amish community will custom make ash handles which is great but I never seem to get there on a Saturday.
We have been sharing one fork at chore time….that’s a challenge 🙂 There is a local “antique/what not shop” that sells a little bit of everything. I went in a couple of weeks ago and found this perfect pitch fork for short people! I found two other regular size forks as well. $20 each!! If I’m really careful, these three should last until I don’t need a pitch fork anymore 🙂.
