Soil Health School and Soil Health Nexus Regional In-Service
August 1-3, 2023

The Haskell Ag Lab Soil Health School is a collaborative event with Nebraska Extension, North Central Region’s Soil Health Nexus, and the Nebraska NRCS. It will cover many aspects of the science related to soil health, including foundational soil health principles, the evaluation of soil health management practices, and many hands-on soil health investigations and demonstrations.

We have applied for 11 CCA CEU's for participants.

Students can present any completed, ongoing research project or concept on soil health. Six hundred dollars will be split up amongst the top poster winners. To participate, submit a title to Nicole Heldt at [email protected].

The first two days of the event are filled with speakers, hands-on demonstrations and activities, and student poster presentations. Both full days are free to attend and include a full lunch and refreshments. The first day, August 1, will be 8 am to 5 pm, and the second day, August 2, will be 8 am to 4 pm.

The final report of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's 2023 Nebraska Farm Real Estate Market Survey shows that the market value of agricultural property in Nebraska climbed by 14% over the previous year, to an average of $3,835 per acre. This represents the second-largest gain in Nebraska's market value of agricultural land since 2014 and the greatest statewide non-inflation-adjusted land value in the survey's 45-year history.

The 2023 Nebraska Farm Real Estate Market Survey report's findings, including the average reported land values and cash rental rates for various classes and types of agricultural land throughout the state, will be covered in this webinar. The topic of current trends and the opportunity for audience participation will be covered.

Women in agriculture have long been aware of the important part they play in the industry's operations, growth, and future.

The special difficulties faced by the female producer as she works through her day include farm culture, communication dynamics, and her place in the family and community.

Think of this as an opportunity to hear from and learn from women producers as they describe their own professional struggles and how those struggles have affected their positions both within and outside of the industry.

The exhibition includes pieces that deal with water and how it sustains life. The pieces on display offer fresh perspectives on how to describe, understand, and communicate water as well as the lost history of its use. "Approaching Water" demonstrates the breadth and complexity of artistic practices that consider water to be a crucial element that is subject to numerous social, political, economic, and cultural concerns. The works urge viewers to think broadly about water and its social construction by utilizing a variety of mediums, such as graphic novels, design interventions, and soundworks.
