The surgery went well according to the surgeon and a not so lucid Mom. Time will tell on the final results.
I plan on being closed tomorrow and open on Saturday, barring any complications. We should be fully stocked.

We will be closed this week. Mom is having spinal fusion back surgery. I'm behind on some things really needing to be done on the farm and I need to restock on some things. Not just some things, a lot of things. You guys have really turned out the last couple of weeks.

We are taking a short break for a week or so.
I'll post with an update when we are back in the saddle.

I'm starting to harvest my hydroponic lettuce, so we have Bacon, Lettuce & Tomatoes for sale. Although, I don't know how long the latter will last. Lettuce is guaranteed to not have been around human poo.

When people complain, I remember years like this. Most snow in February, Most rain in April and Hottest in August.

2011 was definitely the year of extreme weather breaking EIGHT ALL-TIME RECORDS in Fayetteville (see graphic). The summer of 2011 was also BRUTALLY HOT too and will be one for the record books. Check out Meteorologist Aleshly Castro's blog on the Summer of 2011!

It was 15 years ago today that the hottest temperatures in both Fayetteville and Fort Smith were recorded. 110 and 115 degrees respectively. I think it got to 112 at my place.

I remember that summer very well! I was pumping water from the spring with a 5hp gasoline pump. My garden area was this island of green in a sea of dead and brown. Some of the hottest peppers I ever grew that year.

Summer produce is starting to roll in. We have tons of tomatoes. Some cantaloupe and butternut squash just got picked. We also have potatoes, onions, cucumbers, peppers, garlic, fresh herbs [basil, oregano, thyme, rosemary etc.] Plenty of bacon available. I will start harvesting some hydroponic lettuce soon.

This is why they need to do away with the 'feels like temperature' nonsense!
Local reliable weather station at Luginbuel Farm Airport reads 92 degrees with a 'feels like temp' of 97. At the same time, Drake Field in Fayetteville reads 94 degrees with a 'feels like' of 109.

It's just a lot easier to get a reaction than if you say, "it's going to be in the mid 90s in late July. If lucky, we will have a breeze."

If you are looking for a cut of beef that will save you some money and still have great results on the grill, give cubed/minute round steak another look. These are tenderized round steaks.
I took these out and marinated them in some soy sauce, worchestershire sauce, garlic, steak seasoning, a little bit of brown sugar and water. Let them go at room temp for about 4 to 5 hours.

I put them on a very hot grill probably about as long as a hamburger patty.

EXTREMELY GOOD I have plenty this weekend at 9$ per pound.

It would seem that I had good timing in starting to grow organic hydroponic lettuce at my farm. The only downside, sorta, is that it must stay airconditioned. I can see zero ways that a human specific intestinal parasite will ever be near my crop. These should be about 8 inches tall by six inches wide tight vase shaped heads in a couple of weeks with more behind them.
