Peter Franus Wine Company The wines we make are the wines we like to drink, wines that have soul and personality that invite you back to discover something new with each taste.

From the day we made out first wine in 1987, our goal has always been the same – to produce delicious and reasonably priced wines that distinguish themselves with their unique character, harmony and genuine sense of place. We are a very small operation, and nearly all of our artisan wines have a case level production of fewer than 1000 cases. Producing in such small quantities has enabled us to ma

intain an intimate connection to each and every wine we produce. Each vineyard has been carefully selected based on optimal growing conditions for each grape variety and the result of decades long relationships with only the best growers and vineyard owners in the region. Our wines represent the culmination of nearly 30 years of Peter's life in Napa Valley, his intuition, and an ongoing desire to create the most intriguing wines possible. Our business has always been about our customer, and making wines that people love and love to share with their friends. Our wines speak for themselves--word of mouth over the years is unquestionably the reason for our success today. It only takes one glass to make a fan of our wines, fans that have remained connected to us for years. Our friends and fans sustain and motivate us to continue to create the wines that we are passionate about.

It was heartbreaking to hear about Chalone Vineyard shutting down production at their Pinnacles winery. Without question, they set the benchmark for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Not to mention their incredible Pinot Blanc and Chenin Blanc—no one came close. I had the honor and privilege to help out at their harvest in 1979 when I was attending Cal State Fresno. I remember Peter Watson—Graff taking me down to the cellar and tasting Chardonnay sitting on the lees—OMG! Anathema to the idea of fine winemaking at the time. When I am asked what inspired me, Chalone is at the top of the list. In the ocean of manufactured and soulless wine—here’s what real wine was all about.

We don’t pair just any wine with Girl Scout cookies. Here’s why Maryland state manager John Coco chose Peter Franus Zinfandel Brandlin (2023) to pair with Tagalongs aka Peanut Butter Patties:

“Peter Franus has been crafting old vine Zinfandel from the Brandlin Vineyard atop Mt. Veeder in Napa Valley for over 30 years. This wine is so easy to fall in love with that his (now) wife Deanne, when first tasting the wine decades ago, had to meet the winemaker, and well… the rest is history. This is “old school” Zin the way it used to be made, should be made, and thank the heavens Peter is still making it!”
