J.O. Parker (far left) was a champion for the Hereford breed. In the 1960s he purchased his first Herefords and was proud to exhibit them whenever he got the chance. At the time Herefords were the most popular breed in the country and known for their docility and hardiness for survival in a variety of environments.

Today, while not as popular as they once were- we still value the gentle nature of a good Hereford cow. And let us not forget a good Certified Hereford Beef steak! 🥩 😋

While the cow herd has gotten a bit more colorful over the years as far as mixing of some other breeds, we will always bleed Hereford red and white. ❤️🤍

Our Washington County Fair friends will probably recognize this background! 💙

Carrying on a Legacy…

PLR farms was started in 1963 by J.O. and Marie Parker in Springdale, AR. The farm name “Parker’s Lakeview Ranch” pays homage to the view the Parker’s had of the lake of Fayetteville.

In 1998 the farm was moved to Lincoln, AR where we are still located today.

So where’s the connection between the Parker’s and Moyer’s? It wasn’t a blood relationship, but rather one built on love for one’s neighbor. Jerry Moyer (whose biological father had passed away when he was a young boy) was the Parker’s young neighbor boy and not having any children of their own J.O. took Jerry under his wing as his own son. Jerry was encouraged to participate in 4-H, showing livestock, square dancing, and FFA by the Parker’s. Jerry and the Parker’s were pretty inseparable- where you would find J.O., Jerry was a short distance behind. And as they say- the rest is history…

🫣If you see a minivan in the middle of a pasture in Lincoln just mind ya business and don’t tell my husband. 🤫 Sometimes desperate times call for desperate measures!

On the way to town I spotted a little one laying out by himself. Upon closer inspection “Bentley” has a sore foot. He will get a shot of antibiotics and a free trip (*not* in the minivan 🤪) closer to the barn this evening.

This is what raising cattle looks like for us… a little unconventional, but a lot of love and care for the animals God has entrusted us to raise and share with you all!

It’s ! 🥩Beef is high in Zinc, Iron and Protein (🤔think ZIP🤐), and it all starts with a good mineral program!

Dyanna has always joked that we should change our farm name to “Headlight Ranch.” 🔦

🌙 We all have “town jobs” so that means farming for us happens on the evenings and weekends. When you buy cattle or beef from us know that you are buying our passion. ❤️

Some days it would certainly be easier to sell it all and enjoy the lake or golf course, but then we would miss out on sunsets like this while wrapping hay.
