The story of Crimson Lane Vineyards began long before we even realized - one afternoon in our family backyard with a tasting of homemade wine. We took many more sips in the backyard and at vineyards in Virginia and elsewhere. And we dreamed of one day planting our own grapes and building our own winery. Somewhere along the way that long-ago afternoon of wine-tasting transformed into a reality. “Wh

at if” became “when,” and “when” became “where,” followed by cramped car rides to the Virginia countryside in search of the perfect spot – the perfect soil, slope, sunlight. Our story is one about family and friends, and also strangers who became both. So many wonderful people have provided us with guidance on this journey. This Father’s Day weekend, skip the city traffic and restaurant waits and head to Virginia wine country instead.

Just a short drive from DC, Maryland, and Virginia, the Blue Ridge is ready for Dad and his favorite people — coffee and breakfast in a charming nearby town, caverns in Luray, trails in The Plains or Shenandoah National Park, horseback riding in Linden, an estate tasting at Crimson Lane, and a farm-to-table dinner at to close out the perfect day.

Saturday evening, join us for our Cigar & Wine Event as the sun sets over the mountains. Sunday, make it a full Father’s Day wine tasting afternoon. Either way, there’s no better place to celebrate the dads in your life.

Spring in the vineyard is never without its challenges.

Through intentional site selection, proactive frost protection measures, and a little mercy from Mother Nature, we made it through the spring frost season. Much of the vineyard is intact and blooming beautifully.

That said, the growing season is far from over. Between the extreme frosts and heavy spring rains, it's still too early to know exactly what this year's harvest will look like. The vines are showing promise, but the jury is still out on how much fruit we'll ultimately bring in. For now, we're grateful, hopeful, and optimistic as we continue to watch the vineyard develop throughout the season.

A huge thank you to our winemaker, Dominick Fioresi, for sharing this vineyard update. We'll keep you posted as the growing season unfolds.

A sneak peek straight from the cellar.

Our Assistant Winemaker Sam got the first taste of our 2025 Petit Manseng and it's already showing us something exciting. Vibrant and bright, with layers of honeydew and cantaloupe and a rich, honey-like sweetness, this popular Virginia variety always keeps us on our toes.

With vintage-based winemaking, we follow the fruit and let it lead the way. We can't wait to share our interpretation of Petit Manseng and the 2025 vintage with you later this summer. Keep an eye on our page — once this wine makes it to our tasting room, it'll be worth the wait.
