You might think you don’t really need a Commissioner of Agriculture—but you probably interact with their work more than you realize.

They help support farmers, promote Alabama-grown food, and even make sure things like gas pumps and grocery store scales are accurate—so when you pay for a gallon of gas, you’re actually getting a full gallon.

That’s a big deal for every family, not just farms.

That’s why our family is supporting Corey Hill - Republican for Alabama Ag Commissioner!

This past weekend, after being out of town for several days, we took Charlie out to have a big time…& a big time was had!

Each year, the Alabama Poultry & Egg Association has an Evening of Fun with great country artists. This year Charlie was able to see Drake Milligan and Aaron Tippin. The best part of his night? He got to catch a pick!

These are the moments that I hope he remembers forever, because I know I will.

June is one of my favorite months-it’s the start of true summer time, longer days, and more time spent outside.

It’s also the month that we celebrate the Dads in our lives; I’m blessed with the best dad & I’m grateful every day for the dad that Chris is to Charlie.

This month, we’ve got lots of great beef specials including one that’s perfect for the guys in your life. Any of these boxes make great gifts (or just send them a gift certificate, then they can pick out their own!)

Auburn delivery will be Saturday, June 13th and we will be delivering to Oxford the end of this week as well. Clay County pickups can be scheduled as needed-just send us a message!

Did you know some farmers intentionally grow trees right in their pastures? It’s called silvopasture!

The trees provide shade during hot summer days, help block cold winds in the winter, and can even improve soil health. Trees and livestock work together to create a healthier environment for animals, plants, and wildlife.

Pretty amazing what a few trees can do!

This life we’re building isn’t just about the work, it’s about doing it together. 

Through every season, we’ve pushed each other to grow, taken on new adventures, and built a rhythm of life where we’re usually side by side.

It’s not just a marriage—it’s a partnership in every sense of the word.

I’m grateful for the years behind us and everything still ahead. ❤️

Farm Fact Friday with Charlie 🌱

This week he’s talking about brassica mix and how we use it when we’re planting new ground.

The taproots go deep and act like little natural tillers, helping break up compacted soil without having to run equipment over it again and again. They also establish quickly and spread enough to help keep weeds from taking over while the soil gets a chance to recover.

We love using tools like this that work with nature instead of against it—and it’s pretty fun getting to teach Charlie how it all works along the way.

I know homemade stock sounds old-fashioned to some people, but honestly it’s one of my favorite ways to save money, waste less, and keep good food on hand for busy days.

This batch came from one rotisserie chicken and a freezer bag of veggie scraps I’d been saving.

There’s just something comforting about jars lined up on the counter at the end of the day.

Memorial Day always makes me pause.

Grateful doesn’t feel like a big enough word for the sacrifices made for our country, our families, and this way of life we get to live.

Just a simple moment from our pasture today with Charlie, but it carries a lot of meaning for us.
