The Freedom Farm & Foraging Pursuers of health and wellness welcome here. Old ways have not been forgotten!

If you’re looking for something to do Friday the 23rd consider supporting a worthwhile cause @ The Exchange Venue in Camdenton! There will be silent and live auctions as well as a dinner to raise money for the remainder of construction on the home Whistle was building for his fiancĆ© and children before his untimely death.

We have prepared a gift basket for this event and there are SO MANY other amazing things donated for this cause!

Hope to see y’all @ 4:30 next Friday!

Skirting āž”ļø washing āž”ļø shaping āž”ļø wool dryer balls 🤩

I am so excited to announce that our first round of wool dryer balls are finished. I think they turned out awesome (although some need felted)! There’s just something about wrapping up a 4 month project that is sooo satisfying 😌

We started by skirting the wool. Then hand washed twice, rinsed, and laid out to air dry. It was then rough shaped into softball sized balls, stuffed and tied into nylon pantyhose, then washed in the machine and dried in the dryer to felt into the imperfect circles you see pictured.

Wool dryer balls will be the perfect alternative to those toxic dryer sheets you’re currently using. They are natural, environmentally friendly, and long-lasting. Not only do they reduce drying time and prevent wrinkles but the naturally occurring lanolin in sheep’s wool also softens fabric and prevents that dreaded static shock! 🤣

I’ll let y’all know how they hold up and perform in the dryer with our next load of laundry 😁

The first fire of the season is a tradition in our family. It’s somewhat of a catalyst for that fall/winter mindset where life slows down and becomes more intentional and reflective. It’s also when the ticks and other pests go away for a bit! 🤣🤩

These last two weeks I have been impatiently waiting for it because of the heat… but fear not for there is hope!

I always do a stew or a roast on first fire night. Do you have any favorite recipes for either? Do you celebrate ā€œFirst Fireā€ or have another tradition that marks the change of the season?

Our last batches of Elderberry Syrup and Fire C***r didn’t stand a chance against y’all šŸ˜… so we’re doubling down before the weather actually decides to cool off!

Next batch of Fire C***r will be ready in 3-4 weeks. Elderberry Syrup will be back in 2. I would advise jumping on the pre-order list sooner rather than later if you’re in need šŸ«¶šŸ¼

Anymore I am no stranger to ā€œmaking old things newā€. As a matter of fact it seems to be a common practice for country folk! However, if you would have told my younger self that I’d find enjoyment in restoring vintage furniture I would not have had a second thought about it šŸ¤·šŸ½ā€ā™€ļø

But I can see it now;

While it’s not a new product it did get a new look! I mean who doesn’t love a good label 🤩

While commonly used for immune support & sore throats, this fermented honey also makes a fantastic glaze on meats and vegetables! Made with organic garlic cloves, naturally, and local raw honey from 3 Kids Bee Farm 🄰

Liquid Apple Pie, that’s what I’m talkin bout!

Just pint jars available this year I don’t know where all my quarts have gone šŸ¤·šŸ½ā€ā™€ļø

The boys & I spent the better part of Wednesday morning in the woods sampling wild edibles and harvesting what we wanted.

Naturally, Father Winter offers less variety in the way of edibles and herbs so I’m cherishing these late season gatherings while they last. Hopefully the persimmons contain spoons and we have a nice snowy winter! šŸ¤žšŸ¼

Can you name all the things pictured here?

We’re fixing to announce a new productā€¼ļø What better way to do so than by playing a guessing game? šŸ‘€

About mid-summer Brenda Tribble graciously gifted us 6 or 7 feed bags of baby doll wool. (Thank you Brenda šŸ«¶šŸ¼) What do you think we have in store with all this wool?

Leave your best guess in the comments! First correct guess wins $10 via Venmo!

My very limited research shows that an estimated 20% of American’s would be considered ā€œupper classā€. Of that 20% I can only assume that very few are farmers or hillbilly’s… but you probably could have guessed that 🤪

And so I am beginning a series to represent the craftiness & ingenuity of us lower class individuals; ā€œBuild What You Can’t Buyā€. The premier post features a state-of-the-ark air purifier that is both cost effective and customizable and can likely be built entirely with materials you already have on hand!

Our Total Cost:
Fan - $0
Packing Tape - $0
Cardboard Base - $0
(4) Air Filters - $50

Clean Air - ✨ Priceless ✨

Drop a picture or let us know about something you’ve built or crafted that you just couldn’t afford or couldn’t justify buying for the price ā¬‡ļø
