Yesterday I turned 33.

And somehow, it felt especially meaningful to spend part of the day welcoming 3 little call ducklings into the world.

The number 3 has seemed to follow me a lot lately, and my family reminded me of the significance of 3 and 33 throughout the Bible — a number often tied to growth, purpose, promise, and renewal.

I don’t know exactly what this year will hold, but standing by the incubator watching those tiny ducklings felt like such a simple reminder of how much beauty there is in new beginnings.

Feeling extra thankful for this season of life, this farm, and the people who continue to support what we’re building here.

Most people would probably pull this out as a w**d… but I decided to leave it.

This is Virginia plantain — one of the most common medicinal plants you’ll find growing naturally in yards, gardens, and pathways.

I found this one popping up through last season’s w**d fabric where I’m planting herbs, and honestly, it felt fitting to keep it there.

Plantain has traditionally been used for:
• bug bites
• stings
• small cuts and scrapes
• skin irritation

It’s often called “nature’s bandaid” because of its soothing properties.

The leaves can be:
🌿 crushed fresh into a poultice
🌿 infused into oils or salves
🌿 dried for later use

For harvesting, the younger leaves are usually the most tender and easiest to work with. Just clip them close to the base and avoid areas sprayed with chemicals.

One of my favorite ways to use spring radishes… refrigerator pickles 🫜

These bright pink radishes are crisp, peppery, and incredibly easy to make — and honestly, they make any spring snack board or sandwich feel a little more elevated.

We used:
• fresh radishes
• dill from the garden
• garlic from last season
• mineral salt
• peppercorns
• honey
• hot water

These are the little projects I’ve been day dreaming about, turning fresh ingredients from the garden into something beautiful and practical.

We’ll have fresh radishes and dill available, so if anyone wants ingredients to make their own batch, let me know 🤍

The girls and I spent our first slow afternoon of summer boots in the grass, moving through chores together, gathering eggs, and soaking in the kind of quiet moments that make this season feel special.

Our egg baskets have been especially beautiful lately as new hens begin laying. Deep browns, soft olive tones, heavy blooms, and freckles tucked into every collection — no two baskets have looked exactly the same.

After a time of focusing on family and home, it feels good to settle back into these simple rhythms again and share small pieces of farm life here.

If you’re local and looking for fresh eggs for your kitchen or hatching eggs for your flock, we do have a some available. 🤎

This little apron my cousin made for me might look cute—but it actually represents a full year of intentional work 🐓🥚

Over the past year, we’ve been building our breeding pens with one goal in mind: creating a flock that lays strong, healthy eggs in a range of beautiful colors that we can share with our community. That means carefully selecting breeds, tracking genetics, and raising our chickens in a system that supports their health and natural behaviors.

The chicken tractor you see behind me (inspired by Joel Salatin-style management) is part of that system—moving birds regularly onto fresh pasture gives them access to bugs, greens, and clean ground, which directly impacts the quality of the eggs they produce.

And now… we’re finally at the point where production is picking up enough that I actually need an egg apron to keep up 😅

Those vibrant yolks and colorful shells don’t happen by accident—they’re the result of time, intention, and daily care.

The first bouquets with our new logo + stamp made their debut today and we can’t stop staring.

This marks round 3 of tulip subscriptions, so 1 final week left of tulips before we welcome peony season.

Thank you for filling your homes with local, seasonal beauty. It never gets old. 🤍

As our farm was growing, I kept coming back to the idea that I wanted something that felt more like us. I had created a simple version in Canva to get started, but I knew I wanted something more unique and tailored to us.

I had quite a few recommendations, but I really loved the hand-drawn look of Ingrid with Pearl Paints, so I finally reached out.

We met for coffee, and I was able to watch her sketch and bring my ideas to life in real time. What started as something simple turned into something thoughtful, intentional, and completely us.

If you’re looking for a local artist, I can’t recommend her enough 🤍

And now getting to see it come to life has been so special — our new egg cartons in this soft butter yellow (one of our new brand colors) might just be my favorite detail.

Welsummer hatching eggs available!🤎

These girls are laying some beautifully speckled eggs — each one a little work of art. One of our hens throws a heavy bloom, which gives that soft, dusty finish (it can make the speckles a little harder to see in photos, but they’re there!).

Another bonus — Welsummers are autosexing, which means you can typically tell male vs. female right at hatch based on their coloring and head markings. Such a game changer if you’re trying to plan your flock!
