❤️ There's a version of me that the world rarely sees...
where my heart feels lighter and my mind finds peace...
where the weight on my shoulders begins to fall away...
and the worries I've carried don't feel quite so heavy that day.

I'm quieter there, with the horses and hay...
where the noise of the world slowly fades away...
I don't need answers, I don't need to explain...
why some days are sunshine and others are rain.

I find comfort in horse breathe, in warm, gentle eyes...
in the smell of the leather and wide open skies...
in the soft, steady presence of a horse standing near...
who asks for no reasons and doesn't judge tears.

Out there, I can breathe... I can finally let go...
of the things I've been carrying that nobody knows...
I can laugh a little louder or cry if I must... with my boots in the dirt and hay in my hair.

The world says be strong every day...
that I keep it together, whatever comes my way...
but the barn never asks me to be more than I am...
and there's something so healing in knowing I can.

For a little while, I'm not everything to everyone else...
I'm simply a woman finding my way back to myself...
not fixing, not rushing, not trying to be strong...
just standing in the place where I've belonged all along.

And when it's time to leave, and I walk through that door...
I carry a little less weight than before...
my troubles are waiting, and the world hasn't changed...
but somehow my heart feels better arranged.

There's a version of me that only exists at the barn...
where the world can't quite reach me or do quite as much harm...
and I swear that my horses, in their own quiet way...
know exactly which pieces of me need saving that day. ❤️

Josie brings with her years of experience training horses, managing farms, and teaching students. Her knowledge, dedication, and genuine passion for horses will be an incredible addition to our barn, clients, and horses. We feel truly fortunate to have someone with her experience, knowledge, and true horsemanship joining us.

We are looking forward to all the opportunities, growth, and wonderful adventures ahead. Please join me in giving Josie a warm welcome 💕

Perfectly Put!

I read a post recently about how lonely owning a horse business can feel, and it really hit home.

I’m fortunate to have wonderful people around me—Tayler, our farm families, friends, and so many people who support what we do. But there’s still a weight that comes with being the person responsible for keeping it all going.

Even on the hard days, the animals need care. The bills need paying. Staff need to be paid. Something needs fixing, someone needs an answer, and decisions need to be made.

I’ve shared before about why lessons cost what they do. Feeding a horse is only one piece of running a lesson farm.

There are property taxes, insurance, staff and payroll, veterinary care, farrier visits, equipment, and maintenance. There are blankets to replace, broken reins, worn-out manure forks, and repairs that never seem to come at a convenient time. A rainy week can affect income, but the expenses keep coming.

Your lesson fee helps support everything that makes that time at the farm possible: cared-for horses, a maintained space, knowledgeable instruction, and people who put time and thought into your experience.

And then there’s the emotional part.

These animals are part of our family. We know their personalities, their routines, and all the little things that make each one special. We worry when they aren’t feeling well. We make difficult decisions. And when we lose one, it hurts deeply.

There isn’t a pause button for grief when you run a farm. You still have to get up and care for everyone else, even when your heart is hurting.

I love It Takes Two Farm. I love seeing someone gain confidence, watching a child connect with an animal, or hearing an adult say that being here was just what they needed.

That matters to me. So does creating a place where you can slow down, take a breath, learn, and feel welcome.

I also need to make room to breathe myself—to enjoy my own horses, keep learning, spend time with family, and remember that this farm needs to support my life, too.

I’m sharing this because there is so much heart, work, and responsibility behind the time you spend here. Some days it feels wonderful. Some days it feels heavy. Often, it’s both.

I’m grateful for everyone who takes a lesson, attends an event, shares a post, or offers a kind word. You help keep this little farm going, and that means more than you know. 💙
