Eco Angus piloted an Internship Program this year. Our first intern was Dakota Moose Muzney Dakota proudly spent 12 years of service in the United States Marine Corps and is currently enrolled at Iowa State University with a major in Animal Science. His internship allowed him to be a part of our team through Bull Sale Weekend, Spring Calving, and Spring Breeding Seasons.
Independent Project - Dakota worked on two mini projects this semester. He upgraded our internet and installed a wi-fi booster so the ranch now has wifi in the shop, barn, pens, and office. He also worked on utilizing the EID wands and TSU barcode reader to streamline calf identification into our inventory software. He leaves Eco set up expand our technology next year to start utilizing tablets chute-side and in the pens. His second project included a presentation to the management team for hiring military veterans, like himself, through the DoW's SkillBridge program.
Favorite Experience: Branding
Most Interesting Observation: Seeing how selection of genotypes and phenotypes effects the herd's genetics and success.
How has this internship shaped your goals for when you return to school?
