Happy Saturday, friends of the farm!
This is one of the most abundant times of the years for our gardens. Not to be missed this week are our own beautiful pears, delicious cantaloupes and watermelons (supplies are starting to be limited on those) and organic peaches from our employee Jen’s tree. Crowd favorites like beans, cucumbers, eggplant, and summer squash are still plentiful. We have a limited supply of the much sought after lettuce too! And then there are the tomatoes! We have a huge supply of tomatoes and we’re able to offer bulk canning tomatoes to walk ins for only $21 for a 25 pound box. They are very clean and a great deal. If you’re not a canner, you can freeze them for winter soups, sauces, and chili.
We’re still baking as much as we can. This is always a very difficult week in the kitchen as all of our staff with school obligations have cut back or finished for the year, but our wonderful summer customers are still here. So far, we’ve managed to mostly keep up (we’re literally running at times) but still patience may be required! Yesterday was so busy that we sold out of large chocolate creams but we did make more this morning which should be cooled and creamed by noon.
As always, we’re on the Huntington Hill Rd in Litchfield and open 9-6 every day. Thanks for your support. Peace! ❤️
