Sorry to say we won’t be open today. We had to take all our meat from the Windmill freezers back to our walk in freezers where we have a generator. The tree is still across the roD making it a 12 mile trip to go from the Barn to the Windmill.

Orphans Janis Joplin & Mick Jagger stealing milk from Bobby McGee’s mom 23-16 while our little bobtail coyote survivor abandons her rightful teats after such a rude intrusion! Needless to say, all 6 orphaned calves I’ve raised & returned to the field are fending for themselves just fine! Only 4 more to go in the calfway house!

It’s just me & Bobby McGee having our daily rendezvous for medical attention after our baby girl lost her tail & suffered a few horrific bite wounds from a coyote attack last week. Huge thanks to our wonderful vet Lisa Dauten at Tri-State Veterinary Services, LLC for coming out when we discovered Bobby’s injuries, triaging her, administering a rabies vaccine & prescribing a care regimen - we are so grateful she is doing so well at this point!

Last week our girl calf Bobby McGee was attacked by a coyote - she lost her entire tail & suffered a few horrific bite wounds on her rear, but despite these injuries, Bobby is making a full recovery with daily treatment. Here is our bright little nugget in the dusk sunshine with her momma 23-16 who probably intervened & saved Bobby’s life. Big momma has gotten somewhat accustomed to us catching Bobby every day to administer a shot of penicillin, dewormer spray & blue kote but she still keeps a watchful eye while we get her tuned up. It’s amazing that her injuries have been healing so well in such a short time & to see how resilient she is, running around with all the other calves after being so viciously brutalized.
