Swain Farm presents: WEE WICKED EGGS! These delicious little hard-boiled eggs from our bantam hens have been marinating in a spicy pickle brine for a month, and finally they're ready!

What do you do with pickled eggs?

- Snack on them right out of the jar
- Classic bar food for a cocktail party
- Slice them to put on a chef salad
- Chop them up for a tangy egg salad.

They're full of flavor (apple cider vinegar, dark brown sugar, traditional pickling spices, and crushed red pepper), and made from our own farm-fresh bantam chicken eggs.

This was a small batch to test the recipe. It'll be at least a month before I have more available. Large jar $10, small jar $5.00.

Please message me (Christine) on Facebook or call/text to 207-332-5707 if you're interested. We'll make arrangements to pick up your Wee Wicked Eggs here at the farm in Litchfield. Thanks!

Our chickens are definitely free-range! They're allowed to freely roam and forage on the farm every day year round, except in the absolute worst weather (blizzards, nor'easters, and polar vortexes come to mind). We believe chickens are the happiest and healthiest living a free-range lifestyle, and that results in the finest eggs. Buy local! Buy fresh!

Not sure which eggs to buy? Here's our guide on what's baloney and what's legit.

We agree with Lisa on this! We don't cull our older hens when their egg-laying slows down. In fact, we often adopt older girls and let them live out their days free-ranging on green grass. ❤

Older hens might not lay eggs any longer, but they still play an important role in a chicken flock.

After such a long winter, they're thrilled to finally see some green grass again!

New baby chicks will be arriving April 25th! We've ordered a dozen Barred Rocks. We already have several senior citizen Barred Rock girls and like them a lot, so some young ones will be fun. They should be laying eggs by Fall.

59 ways to cook an egg. Some of them are pretty silly, but I learned a lot from this. I've heard of an over easy egg, of course.... but you can also cook an egg over medium or over hard, depending on how you like your egg yolks.
