Hello! Figured we would jump on the bandwagon and post about employment this coming season! It always feels so early to be thinking about who’s going to work here this summer but the more onions I seed the more I start thinking about who the heck is going to harvest these with me??? We have a good group a folks coming back from last year but we are always looking for some more people to join the team once the season starts really kicking into high gear around May. Season lasts well into the fall up through the Holidays. Pay is based on experience and we are always happy to teach if someone is willing to learn! We usually have positions available for markets, field crew and our farm kitchen! We have a lot of fun but it is hard work in all kinds of weather and everything is heavy so keep that in mind 😉 Feel free to send us a DM if you would like to set up a time to have a chat…

This week marks the end of the Honor Market in LC on Wednesday 12/31. This feels like the right time to call it as we are starting to get into “real” winter now and our supply of greens from the greenhouses will need to be replenished after the busy Holiday season. We are working hard seeding, planting and preparing greenhouses for the spring time slot and we will still have tons of roots and squash for the rest of the winter market season so please come visit us up in Providence one of these Saturdays if you have never been…Lots of amazing friends and vendors and only a 45 minute drive from Little Compton. We can’t thank all of our wonderful customers enough for supporting us the last few months and making the honor market such a success. We will slow down a bit but don’t worry there is still plenty to do this time of year and with the days so cold and short it often feels just as busy as the 16 hour days of July. We will be seeding our first greenhouse tomatoes next week! We hope everyone has a happy start to the new year and hope you all stay warm and safe until we see you again ❤️❤️❤️

And just like that it’s a wrap on harvest season… the crew assembled and grabbed the last random things still growing outside and a big block of the sweetest carrots we have ever grown! We also covered a ton of things we just couldn’t say goodbye to like some broccoli and cauliflower that will make an appearance around the end of the month hopefully. Stuff in the greenhouse is just starting to come in nice and the stress of wondering were the hell we are going to put all of these vegetables is a thing of the past as we now have every cooler and space available filled to the brim with cabbage, carrots, potatoes, sweet potatoes, squash, radishes, beets and so much more! Big thanks to the crew for pushing hard this last week to make it all happen and thanks to everyone who supports us in the “off” season! We are up in Providence every Saturday and our Honor Market in LC is still open daily for now with so many awesome things to fill your kitchen!

The Honor Market is Live! Open Everyday 10-Dark until the wheels fall off (usually around January) This is a great way for us to keep moving through veggies in the “off” season and helps us clean the shelves of pantry items and other things that didn’t move by the time we close in October. It’s a simple market in a much smaller space and we try to make it easy so come on by and see what’s in season!

Here we are at the end of another market season… Today is the last Saturday outside in Providence and also the last weekend at the farm in LC. But don’t worry… we will be up in Providence every Saturday all winter long for the winter market and we will begin our off season honor market in Little Compton next week after we reorganize the market room and shuffle coolers around so you can continue to fill your tables with Wishing Stone Farm veggies into the colder months. We can’t thank everyone who helped us this year on the farm enough from the market team to the kitchen crew and the field crew through the spring summer and fall. We still have plenty to do as far as end of the season harvest and greenhouse flipping for our winter supply of greens and root crops but the days will be shorter and the nights longer and we can’t wait to share everything this wonderful crew has worked so hard to provide to you all. Thank you so much to our customers and people who make living this crazy life worth it. Don’t forget about our special pre-Thanksgiving market the Tuesday before Thanksgiving where we will open back up at full capacity with pies and treats from Wilma’s Kitchen and lots of hot food from … it’s really all love over here and we can’t thank everyone enough ❤️

First Winter Market at Farm Fresh Rhode Island this Saturday! So excited to be back inside with friends this year… we will be up in Providence every Saturday till the end April. The Honor Market in LC starts this Friday! We have been working hard to make everything fit in the little side wing of the barn and we think you will be pleased with the off season offerings . Pictured here is our Sprouting Cauliflower! Green-stem cauliflower is popular in Asia, where it is commonly grown. Sweeter and more tender than standard white-stemmed varieties, light green stems with white florets are ideal for light cooking or serving raw for dipping. A farm Favorite!
